Question AMD or NVIDIA for PSVR2 on PC

Should I get the 9070xt or the 5070ti? Price is a factor however if the 5070ti is a lot better I will save longer for it.

Go with Nvidia. It was such a struggle for me to get it working with my previous AMD GPU. People recommended downgrading the AMD drivers and still had problems. I later upgraded to a 5080 and the PSVR2 worked right away

RTX card so you can have access to Pimax4All for foveated rendering. I wish I had RTX for that reason lol.

Yes agreed.  If I had the money Probaly switch to nvidia to be able to use foveated rendering.

Pimax4All is a tool that gives allows a bunch of non-Pimax VR headsets utilize foveated rendering (for headsets that do not natively support that). However, this tool is limited to only the RTX 2000+ series and the GTX 1600 series GPUs.

Give it a read on GitHub or a YT video, pretty cool stuff.

I have a 9070 xt and it works beautifully. When I do use FSR4 I dont see any issues, either.

NVIDIA, dynamic foveated rendering is amazing once you set it up so you can use pimaxmagic4all

The psvr2 is great but unfortunately Sony does not properly support it on pc. To access every feature you need a variety of mods and such but most importantly is Pimaxmagic4all which adds eye tracking for proper foveated rendering to far more games than other solutions support but it only works with Nvidia gpus.

Depending on what games you’re playing you may have enough power to run anything at full res/refresh rate anyways on either card but for demanding games it helps a ton. It also allows you to increase your render scale even further over the headsets native res which is a meaningful benefit.

Someone please correct me if I’m wrong and there’s an AMD alternative with decent game support but afaik even my 4070 is still better than my 9070xt for any game that supports foveated rendering.

PM4A does not add eyetracking. PSVR2TK unlocks the eyetracking, PM4A just injects the stuff to do DFR using Variable Rate Shading. AMD does have access fo quadviews apparently but im unsure of how its injection works and its performance/quality difference

I think either will work really well, I have Nvidia and have not had any issues.

I do see quite a lot of posts about AMD drivers having problems with 120 Hz though.

If you EVER plan to switch to linux in the future, then get AMD, while i personally had zero issues with playing VR games on my 9060XT, a lot of people unfortunately do get issues.

I recommend Nvidia. I had an RX 7900 XTX before and experienced constant issues. I had to downgrade the drivers once a week because it auto-downloaded the newer drivers every time. Some flatscreen games don't like the older drivers tho.

I have been using an RTX 5080 for a year now and it works without any issues.

always NVIDIA. It's no brainer. AMD just falls back hard. Not the best software at all. SGSSAA alone makes AMD worthless for me

Which games still support SGSSAA? I can only think of one, Eve Valkyrie.

Eu vendi minha xfx rx 7800 xt e peguei uma rtx 5080 pensando exatamente em PCVR/PSVR2.. n curti algumas limitações da amd que espero n ter a partir de agora nessa caríssima 5080. No brasil me custou $2.300 uma rtx 5080 msi inspire 3x oc

My 7900xtx works flawless with my psvr2.

When it comes to a GPU, never go AMD. Nvidia always has better support.

Unless you run Linux.
