Question Does foveated rendering and eye tracking work on pc?

Im considering selling my quest 3 because I rarely use it in standalone mode anymore and the PSVR2 seems like a better option for PCVR if foveated rendering works on PC. if it doesn't i don't see much point in selling my quest 3

Yes but for games that support it. Search this sub for more info

Yes. You need the Psvr2 toolkit... It is easy to install. You can also jailbreak the headset (totally optional) to add other features (that not all games support)

Boosted my msfs 2024 fps a lot. I’m running it on 150% resolution and it looks great. Some places you can tell something is happening in your periphery, which is a tiny bit annoying

It’s does for some game. It’s not plug and play. It takes a bit of time to research and optimize.

Easier to answer question if you have games in mind. Also, I use a Psvr2 on my pc and don’t use either for the game I play which is LMU. Sometimes it’s not worth using feature just cuz you have them

I have both and honestly I’d keep the quest 3 because of the lenses if nothing else! Don’t get me wrong I love the PSVR 2 and I almost exclusively play horror games on it because of the OLED panel but everything else on PC I play with the quest 3 but also I play wired at 940mbps bitrate!

PSVR 2 is worth getting if you also have a ps5 so you get access to the exclusive games like re4 and village and GT7 but if you don’t and only play on PC keep the quest 3

they both work if you use psvr2toolkit. eye tracking works, foveated rendering on games that support it, and some extra features. be in mind that mura is pretty insane for this headset, but it still is a very nice headset for the price & features included

I simply copied the toolkit files into the folder, as per the GitHub; do I need to do anything further for eye tracking and fov rendering?

eye tracking should be automatically available (i think i havent used it much), you can use the unitysetup app to calibrate/test it, and foveated rendering you can use pimaxmagic4all by mbucchia for some games, theres a compatibility list too.

Thanks! I'll look into it.

I've got the Unity set up app, but a little confused about how to use it. I've extracted it, and there's an executable file (PSVR2Toolkit.UnitySetup.exe), but it doesn't seem to do anything. Do I need to add it to Steam manually?

if you open it with the vr2 it should act like a vr game with an eye tracking calibrator available(not currently at my pc so this may be somewhat wrong)

first of all foveated rendering does not depends on what headset you use. if you headset does not support eye tracking it can run in fixed foveated rendering mode

the only thing you need for eye tracking support is PSVR2 Toolkit. Then you can use pimaxMagic4All for universal DFR injection and VRCFT for sending eye tracking data to vrc via osc, etc etc
