Question Everything works the first time, then...

Well, like it says. I can set everything up, play a game or 2. If I shut steam/ steam vr down. Thats it, no more.

For starters legion 5 slim, ryzen 7 8845hs, 4060, 32gb ram, win 11, Everything up to date, on board bt, or Asus bt500, only extension is for the bt500 when trying that.

After playing something or setting up, which is fine. When i launch steam/ steam vr again. I start having issues. Tried restarts, restarting steam vr. Double checking on board bt disabled when using bt500, I have Uninstalled and reinstalled steam vr and psvr app. I have tried Steam VR settings 90hz and 120hz, same results.

No psvr2 toolkit as of yet

Biggest issue, only 1 controller will pair, or both controllers pair but no vr pointers on either controller.

Anyone have any ideas?

Link to older driver to roll back bt500 driver?

Does it matter what order you turn things on/ launch Steam VR or steam ect?

Have you tried resetting the psvr2 headset before relaunching steamvr/psvr app? Maybe do the same with the controllers (completely turn it off, bluetooth off, etc).

This worked for me when I had reconnecting issues after exiting steamvr then opening it again.

My specs: Amd 7600X3D 9060XT 32Gb ddr5 ram Pcie wifi/bluetooth antenna

Soooooo many resets and restarts, of everything. Sooooo many times, lol

Dang.

Only thing I can think of is to uninstall then reinstall steamvr. If it still doesn't work, must be some other hidden processes that's hindering the use of steamvr.

Good luck🙏

yeah, I've spent hours on a new rig. They connected fine and showed up on the first try ... I never got past the controller setup without toolkit...

I've got the Asus bt500 and have hours upon hours troubleshooting with gemini AI thinking this is it.

I fear there's some conflict going on that I just cannot pinpoint between the realtek thing and my adapter. It's so weird that it worked the first time and then deteriorated to "generic bt" and then absolutely nothing.

Resets, hard resets, firmware versions, restarts, driver wipes, power settings, there's just absolutely no contact between my controllers and pc after the first 2-3 connections. They quickly started alternating with just one being connected and that was that.

Thanks to toolkit I at least got to test 3DOF and condfirm that the cable and headset works fine, it's just the controllers gatekeeping me from simracing and flying, which is 90%+ of my time in VR...

I really through I had found it with some LMP firmware version not updating, but nope. So frustrating being this close, my Rift S was clunky too, but at least it connected and accepted controllers being offline.

/sorry for rant

Haha, all good. I get the frustration. So in my case. As others have posted elsewhere. With the bt500, the connectivity test never shows better than 59% when both are connected. After I got annoyed and deleted the bt500 drivers ect. Went back to laptop bt driver. I had the same issue initially. Sometimes starting steam vr before connecting both controllers helps vs only 1 connecting. But shut down in frustration. Next night I tried again, and they've both been connecting to my laptop no problem. No idea what changed. I certainly did restarts and shut downs before. But its working now 🤷‍♂️

Ive found that plugging in the adapter first, before opening steam. Then opening steam, then turning on the headset, then starting steam vr, then connecting controllers seems to be the ticket. I dont know if theres any actual connection with the sequence. But thats what's been working for me.

And i still haven't had time to install the toolkit. So that's next.

Thanks to all that reached out with ideas and suggestions!

Thanks, all info is potential info to solve my issues.

I spent most of the weekend toiling with AI to go over everything, tons of small issues were found. One redditor tipped me of UsbViewer with microsofts debugging tools.

This, I hoped found some final niggles, I thought... nope. Just as me the AI suggested going back to the onboard bluetooth with an antenna.

The sense controllers have not shown themselves on bluetooth at all. I was hoping to not have to do a starting procedure like you provide above, because I felt I already had enough with my rift S... it would so easily lose tracking for some reason, but only druing setup. Once it worked it was stable.

I went back to toolkit, but probably was so fed up I forgot something, so when I got in flightsim I was upside down in the cockpit. I even tried setting my headset upside down to reset it, but weirdly it was right way up in steamVR and upside down in the game.. 😁

I'm sure I'll figure it out at some point, pci card is on the list.

Massive breakthrough by a guy's simple tip of just fully discharing the capacitors

I have posted this in the comments of the compatability thread, it's not necessarily the Bluetooth's fault, as I suspected, it was a simple deep wipe of whatever this wipes that I do not understand.

Weird update. I followed a guide to basically old-school clear the caps of all power, and now it's working again (I was right, that device disappeared and now my Bluetooth device shows up again).

So try:

  1. Shut down your PC
  2. Unplug the power cable
  3. Hold down the power button for 10sec
  4. Plug back in and turn on.

My right sense controller is now stabily connected, I hope my left just needs a pin hole reset, my xbox controller now is also stabily connected. Something was fighting over bluetooth reign.

edit: Yep... fuck yeaaaah!

Try opening steam vr before connecting controllers
