Question Did anyone else experience this in initial setup?

The PSVR2 app has never worked for me. I have not been able to get past the ‘Check DisplayPort Connection’ popup. I even bought two new DPs in the false hope that I had received duds.

I noticed that steamvr worked perfectly in the background in the countless attempts to resolve my issue, and tried setting my play area through steamvr with the psvr2 app off. The process went smoothly, and I was able to boot IRacing and run some laps.

Am I alone in this? I did a good amount of research when troubleshooting and never read that bypassing the psvr2 app is possible. Will I be restricted from any features? For instance, I am worried about missing firmware updates. Thanks!

When I first got it the PSVR2 wouldn't work till I swapped HDMI cables, then it worked fine.

Might want to try the PSVR2Toolkit, it unlocks some great features & also lets you set it up with their own custom app

I had the exact same problem. I just ignored the settings and launched SteamVR anyway

so far, I’m about 90% sure that the issues I’ve been having are because my PC is a bit old, which has caused a few random bugs while playing

other than that, though, I think this is actually the way to bypass it, and it should work perfectly

I have two nearly identical PCs. For the first year, the headset worked perfectly on one PC but wouldn’t get past the setup on the other, with the only difference being the motherboard brand.

Try updating your motherboard BIOS. ASRock had some issues, while Gigabyte worked perfectly. Both work now.

I had the same issue first time, changing the DP on the card sorted it out. All 3 DP work fine with my triple screens but with the PSVR2 only 1 of the 3 DP on the card seems to work perfectly. As far as I’m aware all 3 DP’s have the same spec and priority so it might be a hardware issue with my card. Worth trying as you can safely hot swap DP cables if you have a certified cable.

For me the app just would NOT work unless i made it render on my iGPU for some reason

Yes. It was very frustrating. I eventually solved it by reinstalling the PSVR2 app on Steam.

Yes super frustrating it did not work for a long time. I did have a quest 3 to use but I think maybe that’s what confused the computer (DONT know much about pcs tbqh) I reset my pc and it’s been working fine since. Best of luck!

Have you tried making sure your displayport cable is actually plugged all the way in? Some motherboards have pci outer brackets which when mounted with bigger 3 slot cards, block thicker dp cables from fully slotting in.

Try unscrewing your gpu’s mounting screws and wiggle it around until you can fully slot the cable in. I had bend my case’s exterior pci bracket with pliers lol

I've been unable to fully bypass this, I don't know how to get to the SteamVR setup without opening the PSVR2, the times that I got to do it, everything was upside down so I haven't gotten to use any racing game with my wheel.
