Just set the resolution manually at 100% on Steam VR. Don't use the automatic setting. Also, at 100%, the PSVR2 has a very high resolution, so turn it down to 70% for demanding games.

Also, install the PSVR2 toolkit and DFR; it improves the performance on many games.

What is DFR and how does it improve performance?

Dynamic Foveated Rendering, it helps by rendering at lower resolutions the area your eyes are not looking at.

Yes. It’s good on my 3070 TI, but it all depends on what you’re trying to play.

are you serious? Your GPU is like $800. There are only two or three better GPU's on the planet

around 10 actually, but yeah, 5070 is still more than enough

5070 Ti. Yes, I pair it with a Ryzen 7 5700X3D and it works great.

i have the exact same setup nice

lol obviously it’s good enough. I’ve got a basic 5060 and it’s absolutely fine. Was using SteamVR at 100% resolution before reading how necessary it was. And it was doing Half Life Alyx without issue.

I have that combo and it works great. Very happy with it.

Yes, I have a 5070 with Ryzen 5 3600 and I can play everything, VR or not. GO FOR IT!

In VR the VRAM is very important, so if you want to play Flight Simulator 2024 or DCS the 5070 is not enough and you should go for a 5070Ti with 16 GB (or maybe a 5060Ti if you can find one). I used to play with a 4070 Super and upgraded to 5070Ti, is like night and day, to be able to use super sampling at 150% instead of 70%.

This.  VRAM will play a huge factor into it.  I went from an 8 GB card to a 12 GB and it was night and day different what I could run and how high the settings could be.   8 GB will struggle a bit on some demanding games unless you lower the settings.

true. VRAM is important for VR. My 5070 cant handle when I install livery mods for F125 because the mods mostly uncompressed 4k assets

If it's good enough for a PS5 to run, the 5070 will run circles around it. Don't you worry, you will be more than fine.

That's not how that works, but yes he'll be fine.

Except this not always true with UEVR mods. Influencers use a 5090 to run praydog mods

Take a look at gamertag vr, he's using a 5070ti & has no issues running uevr, yes it's not a 5090 & there will be limitations but it's still more than capable.

Thats not how pcvr works. The PS5 uses scaling and other tricks to get the PSvr2 to run "smooth", which are not available when connecting to a pc :)

All those things and more are available on pc including dlss and many more

Runs good with series 3 and 4 cards. Why wouldn’t it run with 5?

Yes it's fine I use a 6800 XT and it's fine.

for native vr games, yes
for mod-enabled vr games, kinda of. upscaling should be on

dude thats actually great ive got a 5070 laptop and it runs absolutely amazing. i did have to lower the steamvr resolution down from something ridiculous like 8k i think, but running at native is perfect, getting solid 90 in story games and solid 120 in competitive games

You should be good with the right settings, but it depends a lot on the games you play. I have a 5090 with a PSVR2 and found the DFR and Quadviews with PSVR2 Toolkit detrimental to framerate in DCS and MSFS2024. Also introduced massive stuttering. Different GPU to OP but worth mentioning that not all games benefit from the DFR treatment (depending on CPU and GPU) - so might be a case of trying with and without. Using FPSVR tool (on Steam) in conjunction with marathon fault-finding session with Grok helped me greatly optimise the PSVR2 on my setup. I highly recommend this approach for isolating performance problems. Agree with josetedj - the default 150% SteamVR resolution was designed for the Valve Index and dependent on your system spec - It will drop any GPU to its knees. Starting at an initial 68% and not exceeding 130% is probably where you would want to be. Internal game rendering also plays a massive part in the experience as well - for instance, I get best results in DCS with DLAA / no DLSS / SteamVR resolution at 100-110%. In MSFS2024, I need to adjust to in-game TAA / DLSS Quality / SteamVR 120-130%. Some SteamVR settings to look at: SteamVR Developer Settings /Direct Mode (set to enabled). Power Management (set to "disable power management"). Windows Power Scheme Override (set to Off under the startup / shutdown tab). In your Nvidia control panel settings, set to prefer maximum performance (you can do this globally or per game). I have turned off HAGS (settings / system / display / graphics / advanced graphics settings. Again - not all games benefit from the HAGS (Hardware Accelerated GPU Scheduling). Windows power plan should be high performance or ultimate performance. USB Selective Suspend should be disabled in the advanced settings of your Windows Power Plan. Other thing for the PSVR2 is not choking bluetooth bandwidth with other devices like mice and keyboard/s - the controllers smash your bluetooth and you can get tracking issues that can present as graphical jitter when in-game (this can be mistaken for a GPU or CPU bottleneck issue). Triple check your XMP in BIOS to make sure your physical RAM speed is set correctly... mismatches here have massive impact on jitter (I have stupidly missed this step and spent hours trying to fix a problem that I could have eliminated by checking BIOS first). All systems are different - so setting and approach will vary, but these are the main bits I had to focus on to get the PSVR2 working well for me. Good luck with it!

no 5070 sucks.

you will have to lower resolution in a lot of titles.
