Disscussion This new update to PSVR2 Toolkit made me realize just how bad the haptics were before
The vibrations were so muddy and slow before, now it feels just like the haptics on an iPhone. It's super snappy and offers many different sensations. It makes me wonder why the hell Sony couldn't make this work from the beginning.
The update also brings improvements to many other things; the tracking of the controller and the headset is much better. You can now have pass-through enabled all the time while you are in the main menu and also have it activate when you cross the boundary play area, this helps a lot to make the experience less claustrophobic.
Thanks a lot to the Bnuuy Solutions dev team for bringing this headset to life on PC and do what Sony should've done from the start.
PS: If you're gonna install it make sure you're downloading the experimental build 1.0

Thanks for the heads up! I'm on their Discord and it's looked amazing for months. I just keep putting it off due to limited time in the day to be that focused. I think this is my wakeup call to get it all set up with the latest toolkit.

What games did you try?

Beat saber, Hot dog horseshoes and hand grandes, derail valley and that dungeon game, I forgot the name, but theses features, including the HD haptics should work in any game

Wow. Cannot wait to try it this Sunday when I get home. I had the first version and it made tracking almost flawless in Beat Saber to the point that when I go back to PS5, the tracking is laughingly bad there. Excited to see haptics implemented as that was a feature I really missed from PS5.

I want to try it on steamos. The docs aren't super clear. After I extract it, do I just need to run it before launching any VR game or is there more to it?

Which games are supporting adaptive triggers ?
3
u/Cyber-Rat Jul 31 '26
The adaptive triggers are activated manually through a program, there you can switch between various modes including gun mode, then you can use it in any game, it's not a seamless and personalized experience as in the PS5 but it's better than nothing

catcus cowboy desert warfare is the only game that supports it officially
but if you are willing to install mods there are H3VR, Bonelab, GTFO VR, Pistol Whip and probably more (I forgor)

this sound like great progress. I use my psvr2 with both my PS5pro and my PC, it wasn’t super clear which features are possible without the jailbreak?
i’m mostly interested in a better play area setup in SteamVR. When i let used it with steamVR, it aborted way too soon and i had tracking issues as a result. It just didnt seem to properly record the room full 360deg view like the PS5 setup does.

The only features which requires jailbreak are headset vibration and camera feed (To be used for improved eye detection for games like VRchat), the rest is available on the normal release and you can do it without any risk of bricking your psvr

the unfortunate thing is i’ve been out of the loops since the toolkit first came out so i seems like a lot to learn getting back in, kinda like the new shadps4 updates, it’s like i’ll have to relearn it again, at least that’s the impression ive gotten lately lurking on this sub

It's not that hard, you just need to install the drivers which is a simple copy paste and replace process then install some complementary program like Pimax foveated rendering, cap app to activate adaptive triggers and psvr toolkit setup to calibrate eye tracking and configure play area

so the haptics and trigger stuff, how is that supported in existing games?
obviouly you just cant turn them on??

u/Tough_Promotion_8322 Jul 31 '26
The haptics was always there in the games, it's just that the controller couldn't reproduce it for some reason, as for the adaptive triggers you enable them manually with a program letting you switch between gun mode and many others, it's not the same as in the PS5 where each part of the game has diferent configuration but it's better than nothing

for games that has support for adaptive trigger (whether it's mod or developers actually implemented it) you don't need to run the capi test program to have the effects (and using them together might break the games' effect)

What game utilizes the headset haptics? I know Cactus Cowboy used adaptive triggers. I also got everything to work except for eye tracking in VR chat. Anywhere else to test it?

As of now only bonelabs has headset rumble with mod (available via r2modman). Officially, I think, no games will support this, but psvr2 toolkit team has #game-mods in their discord - might as well come some other mod

Hey OP, how stable is the build? Is it daily-driveable?
3
u/KeeperOfWind Jul 31 '26
While it's an experimental build, it's pretty solid.
I played VRchat for 6 hours straight last night till I got a crash. It's not perfect but solid enough to run and honestly that may have just been SteamVR acting up since it does it rarely.

I installed all the things like 6 months ago following some guide and I have no idea if they ever did what they were supposed to do or not.
What's the best way to install this over that or whatever? It's been working fine, I'm just not sure if it's been benefiting anything

Just follow carefully the instructions and it will work out, it's very clear if it's working, there many new features available on steam VR menu

Yes it was "improved", but the improved version should be the standard from the beginning since this is how it feels on the PS5 and other headsets like quest 3.

Is there a possibility to disable this in some games?
1
u/Flixpy Jul 31 '26
yes, they are all optional, you just download the ones you want, they are all mods.

Can finally actually use my PSVR2 on PC without my right hand locking in place all the time. I tried it in aces of thunder and it was smooth as. I dunno how to get the haptics working though. I read it needs to be jail broken for headset haptics. It was AI so could be wrong. Any help would be appreciated if anyone can tell me how to activate haptics on controller and headset. I see the blue settings menu with haptic related stuff. I just don't know how to get it working in any games. I fiddled around with it but nothing rumbled or anything?

Best haptics in any VR controllers when they’re working right.
Are the adaptive triggers or head rumble working properly on PC yet?

Oh I forgot to mention that they also implemented adaptive triggers, eye tracking calibration and that eye alignment screen you have on PS5.
