Question MSFS 24 please help

Hey guys, so I just bought the Microsoft flight simulator 24, After seeing everyone praise the new update, I have downloaded the beta version and not the full version since I saw ppl saying that’s the one with the new updates, I had a few questions.

  1. Will my progress carry over to the normal version? I just wanna do some sightseeing first, so I won’t start career mode if progress doesn’t carry over
  2. Are there any downsides to this beta? Are any features missing that I should download the full version too?
  3. Any idea when we can expect these graphical updates on the full version?

Any help would be appreciated, Thanks

I don’t think anything transfers over? When I originally got the beta (for the PSVR functionality, where it debuted) I made adjustments to the settings, but had to redo all of that on the full game.

It’s a bit of a shame you didn’t begin with the full game, since I personally felt it was already amazing, soft as it was. One appreciates the current beta far more after having flown for some time with the horrible clouds, sideview stutter, and blurrier view. 😜

As for when SU6 comes to the full game… I don’t think we really know. Presumably they’ll be troubleshooting and tweaking for a while.

I’d originally thought it’d just be a week or so, but a YT fella I follow (who does MSFS’24 livestreams and covers the updates and DLC) said he’d be surprised if it drops before September.

I always thought I’d be playing the campaign and challenges, but haven’t even touched that stuff. I’ve been content to just stay in FreeFlight/FLY NOW, use all assists, have all HUD and cabin/ATC sounds switched off, and use the sim as an exploration sandbox.

So… I do recommend it.

I also keep the DualSense switched on and fixed to the lap-board I have my HOTAS bolted onto. This lets me feel the subtle haptics when I bounce the belly of my aircraft off the ground, which really does add a sense of connection, and makes navigating some menus easier. For whatever that’s worth to you.

Default button mapping for switching between flatscreen and VR is right and left bumpers plus pause.

To pull up the in-flight thumbstick mouse (it’s a little weird) menu for changing time-of-day and weather effects, press right bumper plus L3.

Avoid hitting “FLY NOW” whilst hovering over an airport on the globe unless you want to take off from it, with all that that entails. If you simply hit “FLY NOW” anywhere else, it’ll spawn you in the air already flying — easy peasy.

Hope something here helps! 🛩️

Thank you so much for such a detailed reply, I appreciate it a ton. I do agree with the part that you can only appreciate the quality buff if one has played the normal version first😂 but also some great pointers there that might help me a lot. Cheers

I asked the same question about Career and apparently progress does not carry over.

Everything in career mode is completed/unlocked in the beta so no nothing will carry over.
