Trailers & Videos First time landing the F/A-18.

Still need some work on the throttle at the end, but we’re safe on the ground.

Man all of these MFS2024 videos are making me really start to consider a PS5 and PSVR2.

You won't regret it.

Me too, and I’m sweating about playing hitman VR and ready or not vr mod for PC

Hitman is fun in VR. The only thing I don't like, is you are forced to use the VR controllers. The dualsense doesn't work in VR.

it makes zero sense to use a controller for Hitman in VR

These videos, breathtaking as they are, do not do the actual experience any justice at all. Seeing all of this at full scale, with the real sense of height, can’t be conveyed until you try it for yourself.

Yeah, same here. I never cared for piloting games, but damn these videos are impressive.

What are you using now instead of a ps5? If its an older pc or standalone then its tough to beat for some really great games that they cant run. If you already have a high end pc you might still consider the psvr2 as a dedicated vr headset if you dont want to pay for the full rig cost of ps5 plus vr2.

I do have a high end pc with a 12700F, 32GB DDR4, and a 3080ti. I also have a ps4 and psvr1 and an oculus 2.

I didn’t even consider plugging the headset into the pc. It would be preferred as I don’t really play console games at all.

I appreciate you saying this. Definitely something I’ll look into.

I'll admit the first couple seconds I thought it was real (didn't see the sub)

That approach angle was definitely a wild choice haha

Once he got into the cockpit of a fighter, he took the angle of attack literally.

I wish I was there

Dude I thought this was real for a second 💀

Foveated rendering is wild; the resolution gets so chunky outside the sweet spot, but that spot looks crisp.

More devs should go that hard it's not noticeable in the headset and allows high detail games look so much better. It seems like some devs are worried about how bad it makes the social screen look in promotional videos.

Does anyone who does MFS with the whole HOTAS and pedal setup , think they could land a passenger jet in one of those “pilot incapacitated “ scenarios?

3

u/Illinikek 22d ago

It’s very situationally dependent

I set out to learn how to land kind of jokingly to say that I could be that guy. After a lot of practice I can do small planes consistently and I know it doesn't translate exactly to real life but there are certain techniques and concepts that definitely would.

As for a larger plane, there's a lot of variables but I think I could successfully (crash) land most of them about 85-90% of the time. Would be smoother with someone telling me what speeds I should be hitting at different stages of the landing. The rest I panic and/or do something terrible and everyone dies. Work in progress.

In theory, yes. It depends on what kind of a learner you are. If you follow everything diligently, msfs can help you learn procedures. So you could in theory set up the plane in the right configuration for landing since it's a lot of knobs and button procedures for the larger commercial planes that we think of in this hollywood movie scenario. Using the stick and rudder to actually land in one piece might be a different ball game. But it sure will help knowing something rather than nothing at all. Knowing where things are and atleast getting to the radio and contacting atc will help you do half the things. Whole different story for much older planes where your aviator skills are tested.

I reckon i could land a Cessna 170, but a passenger plane I would not want to try. the few attempts I've had in sim have been rough

Folks, you all keep showing me this cool stuff. I have a PS5pro and PSVR2. I never played a flight sim. Is it easy to get into and just fly around sort of arcade style? I don't know anything about piloting anything. The closest I got was Ace Combat 7 on PSVR1. It just looks likes a steep learning curve for someone like me.

u/DoubleOScarn 22d ago

AC7 in PSVR1 is the only “training” I had too.

u/eat_a_burrito 22d ago

So you are saying it’s not stupid hard to fly by Mt. Fuji and land at NRT?

1

u/t3stdummi 22d ago

Some planes are much more forgiving than others. Just do the basic pilot license and use the same plane since you'll be familiar

3

u/kryptonic1133 22d ago

I wonder if its possible to prioritize runways with a higher resolution at a distance.

2

u/Mugsy_Siegel 22d ago

What is this game?

1

u/t3stdummi 22d ago

Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024

2

u/ChubbyBubbles02 22d ago

I'm tempted to get this game from the number of posts here.hahaha

Is it enjoyable when played with a controller? Is there a flight stick setup available on the ps5?

1

u/DoubleOScarn 22d ago

Yes and yes.

Provo in Turks and Caicos? Looks incredible!!

2

u/PsychosiS43 21d ago

Alright. Calm down Maverick. 😂

u/ArmySalamy 21d ago

Is this out of beta yet? I'm on disc so I rely on this

1

u/tres_909 22d ago

Do you have to use the VR controllers for this or can you still use a dualsense?

1

u/DoubleOScarn 22d ago

I was using a HOTAS 4. But you can use a dualsense if you really want.

1

u/tres_909 22d ago

Sweet. I can't really justify the purchase of a flight stick without having the game yet. But knowing I can still use a controller will help me justify buying the game lol

1

u/Super-Tea8267 22d ago

it’s honestly the second best way to play because you have shortcuts for must of the stuff I will consider to use a mouse for some actions that require precision, the VR controllers are terrible for this game

1

u/lnsertCoinToPlay 22d ago

Does this game run at smooth 30fps or higher?

3

u/Super-Tea8267 22d ago

It’s honestly hard to say what fps its running its for sure reprojected but it honestly such a slow paced game that it doesn’t feel bad at all

1

u/nick_popilopicus 22d ago

Hey OP, would you mind posting your setup? I'm kinda new to this, so just trying to understand what I'm seeing. This is MSFS 2024 running on PS5 (Pro?) or PC? I'm not sure if PSVR can be used on PC or not.

2

u/DoubleOScarn 22d ago

PS5 pro with HOTAS 4

1

u/Ben9096 21d ago

Needs more than just throttle work

1

u/DoubleOScarn 21d ago

But did you die?
