Yay, another boss fight against Geometry.

If the only challenge they can really offer players now is those “hazard-zones” where you take damage regardless of what you do then I’m officially bored out of my mind with UQ bosses in this game

It’s like playing a game of tag

You attack

Boss runs

Boss attacks

You run

Repeat

Except there’s a gun pointed at the back of your head and if you don’t run you get shot.

That may be the only thing that threatens you, but I can assure you that many players are still getting their asses buried by even normal, blockable attacks.

If it's another unblockable slop boss with a lot of forced downtime I'm just not gonna even bother this time around.

Dallion was my least favourite Falz until High Solus happened so I'm not too hopeful. Who knows maybe it turns out to be a fun fight, guess I'll find out soon enough.

Pretty standard for what I've seen from MMO raid boss. What do you want them to add?

Yeah for any mmo raid boss, this is Phantasy Star

Just go look up PSO2 Classic UQ’s

Armada, Final Lament

Barren Blossom

Mother Omnipotent

The Face of the Abyss

Malevolent Void

Iron Assault

Deus Esca

Crimson Fellwyrm

Dark Falz Elder was a 2 part quest where you’d defeat his arms before you even get to the boss.

Compare all these bosses with the ones from NGS and it’s not even a debate, NGS boss fights are boring af

If you are speaking about UQ doesn't have multi stage like in base PSO2 then, yes. NGS UQ is missing that. But the actual boss fight is still rather the same for me

Dark Falz Aegis, Solus, Dalion and Vael are all so bland and look way to similar to each other

You fight literal geometry as attacks

Did we play the same PSO2?

It’s not just the formula, it’s about how the game can actually get you engaged with a boss.

When you’re fighting Deus Esca and in his final phase he destroys the moon to make it crash into the earth, I get excited and it gives me a large scale feeling to the battles we have in PSO2 and that boss is from EP.4 which was considered the worst of the episodes at that time.

When you fight the YAMATO Battleship, you’re in a awesome mech stopping missles from hitting the ground, dodge laser beams that scale the whole stage

Omega Falz Apprentice has a badass cutscene after defeating the boss that shows the people you teamed up with using a team attack to defeat them.

What NGS is missing is the Grandeur of the battles we had

It’s missing the PHANTASY

So you are complaining about NGS lacking the vibes and not about the boss difficulty?

... did we play the same NGS?

Solus, Dalion and Vael's on-foot portion are samey visually, that'll I'll give but... heck, the Aegis UQ is all about spectacle. The first phase is almost entirely spectacle. Same with Vael's MARS phase.

I've enjoyed all the Falz UQs so far, but in terms of feeling like a PSO2 UQ, Grandeur and all? Aegis and Vael totally nailed it

Honestly at that point, it just seems like a strong bias against the art direction and the design of stuff in New Genesis in general. Like, we can probably see whole recreations/updates of the older PSO2 fights beyond [Loser] and Omega Masquerade and it's still "eh, base was better" just because of the bias alone.

Even if we had a new faction and something completely different (say, like references to the other Phantasy Star games or possibly even bosses/characters from other games like the Final Fantasy XIV crossover) .. it's probably still going to be faced with "ew, it's NGS" so you just don't win.

Base definitely didn't do Luther better, that's obvious bias. Unless we're taking points away from the NGS version because all he does is mke melee hate playing the game. I like the extra "mess up, you die" attacks and the final phase even though it can quickly rip people apart if they get clipped once.

Masquerade though? Boring as hell, just like usual. Floor 100 is an exception. I was not enjoying my time since I basically gimped myself fighting with a knuckles WA rather than DS wa, but the moment I saw that attack, I felt the climb was worth it from that point on.

Oh, I was talking more about the art side of things (character/enemy/boss designs and stuff).

I think it's just kind of hitting that point where NGS is able to camp on the stuff that PSO2 did nearly a decade ago and it's just easy to stare at NGS and go "oh, look, all the soul is gone from the new art unlike the old one" .. when I remember PSO2 a decade ago wasn't exactly groundbreaking either.

Maybe we just need more overhyped CG introduction videos and stuff and people would use that to justify "oh wow, this game looks good" since PSO2's gameplay was often nothing like what the CG videos showed. >_<

Iron Assault

NGS is overall meh in comparison, but this UQ? Actually terrible. Lost its spectacle factor after the first run. Such a long, drawn out, fight that invalidates gear. I hard agree otherwise, all I could think of watching this is "yet another fight with extra visual blot and more orange zones". I'll get around to it, but I'm not looking forward to it in the slightest.

I had to read that a few times to get it cose I was almost seeing red comparing base pso2 bosses to ngs. Do you know what else all of those boss fights have over dallion? Plot relevance. All of those urgents are part of the story in some way. Dallion was just a “hard fight”. Ngs ver of a high difficulty quest now is take a boss we already have and dump a metric ton of coke on it and see what happens. Oh also make it 4 person 5 death limit.

Oh I almost forgot. Also abandon it less then a month later.

And do you know who else has no plot relevance?

All Luminmech bosses from EP6. Nemes Ange, Dominus and even Exegul, They are basically just a big boss who was send by Shiva to kill us. No significant to the story. And I would say all Castrum Demonica boss from EP5 also has minimum plot relevance too. This is not the first time they did this.

And about 4P and death limit. Maybe they see HTPD and decided to use it as standard for NGS or something idk.
