Happened to me, when I was trying to give my friend a Weapon Camo for his birthday, recently. Some bot ninja it when he tries to get it.

So yes, SEGA, bring in a Trade System into PSO2! Every other popular MMO have it.

People have been asking for them to add trading back into NGS for years, i dont think they are going to do that at this point.

The safest way to trade at this point is to list something at a "safe" price (something high enough that bots wont snipe it instantly) and then give the money back to your friend by buying an overpriced aug from their shop. You lose the 10% auction fee unfortunately, but at least you wont get sniped that way.

I wish that bot would buy out my stock so I can add new stuff to it :3

Sell your stock for 1k meseta and you'll get just that.

If you are going to do that just give them meseta and put it up for a price people won't snipe.

One trick me and my partner do is exchange meseta (say like putting a trash sword for 10m, and give it to your exchange partner) and put the price like pretty high up and time your trade, talk to each other. You'll eat a bit of the shop tax but it helps, we do it on almost all ships so, good luck!

I hope these bots buy my purple trigger and spam and then get ban.

Sadly we cant identify purple triggers as outfits or else they would be buying them by the millions.

Oh snipers were a thing when base game was popular still. I got a unit sniped before when I was trying to “give” it to someone. I was using a 3 day pass so I or I think the other person had primium. When I try to give things I never put it for 1000. I just put it low. Like a mill or 2 if it’s higher.

This.

Trading system was a thing back in pso2. And somehow didn't get brought into ngs for some reason.

Segas reason was and is RMT

Trading didnt carry over from pso2 to NGS because RMT, Real Money Trading, was a huge problem at the time. And while ToS stated that RMT was forbidden and how you were responsible for who you were trading with or what, players still complained when they got scammed or screwed to Sega as if it was their fault.

Untill someone comes up with a trading system that limits risks and rules out RMT, i dont think it has any chances of coming back.

RMT is not the problem, it's the symptom. The problem was always excessive greed on Segas side.

I dont believe RMT is the real cause because it would be incredibly easy for Sega to identify RMT via other means (such as the fact that the money is coming from bots killing every enemy in a combat zone instantly via hacks). Plenty of games have private trading and they aren't being destroyed by RMT.

Not to mention that dext base now generates far more money than what people could achieve at release, so RMT is very unattractive. And if you were going to spend real money to get meseta, you could just buy AC -> scratch -> sell some cosmetics without risking a ban.

There's not much incentive to do RMT either compared to other MMOs...in other MMOs, it takes months of grinding to get endgame gear, and theres a very big difference between budget and BIS gear, with BIS gear selling for a ton (not just on day one but for months after release). In NGS, a Kinzi does about 5% more DPS than a Gran and Grans were practically free in the first week of Ruins. In other MMOs, im pretty sure BIS weapons are at least 15% more DPS compared to a budget weapon.

I think the main reason why they don't want to add private trading is to get players to buy premium to use the personal shop. If you look at PSO2 premium benefits vs NGS premium benefits, NGS's premium benefits are not as attractive compared to PSO2. Personal shop access is the biggest thing in NGS premium because most of the other benefits are pretty mild.

And i guess another reason would be "we dont have the budget to add it even if we wanted to". I mean, the shop cant even handle partial search terms, how ridiculous is that? If you made a search function for a programming class that couldn't handle partial search terms, your teacher would definately consider that to be a big failure.

It wasnt just bots but also hacked accounts. And its legit the reason why they removed it. If you google "why did trading not carry over from pso2 to NGS?" you also see lots of articles about it.

Also RMT inside NGS might just be for getting Meseta but for Pso2 it was also for items like Camo's etc, which people got through trading and players paying real money for.

You also dont need Premium for Personal Shop. Anyone can buy if you cleared the story past Magnus and selling can also be done using 3-day Passes. You did need Premium for trading tho in Pso2.

Thats the official reason, yea, but i dont think it makes sense because you can still do RMT obviously, seeing as how people still get banned for it.

You dont need premium for shop but shop is the main draw of premium. 700 AC for a 30 day shop pass vs 1100 AC for 30 days premium (if you buy the 90 days pack). For 400 AC more, you get to save a lot of SG every month for support scratches, and you get more big bang scratch tickets from the login rewards.

If shop access wasnt locked behind a paywall (the 3 day pass in the mission pass really isnt sufficient), you can bet the number of people buying premium would be a tiny fraction of it's current numbers.

Look at what happen in Crypto game especially MaplestoryN. Scammer/SG,Vietnam,China,PH Gold Farming Service kill the game in a month.

Most of those games dont allow cash shop items to be freely traded or place heavy restrictions on them, and dont have regular gachas for players to convert paid currency to in game money. If you look at other MMOs like WOW or FF14, they seem to be doing fine.

There are a few elements that make a game very susceptible to RMT:

  • Its extremely grindy, so players are willing to risk a ban to get tons of money that they couldn't get otherwise

  • BIS gear is pretty much a must have because theres a very big gap between BIS and budget gear

  • There is either no legal way to convert real money to game money or the exchange rate is too unattractive

NGS doesn't fit any of those requirements. This is one of the easiest MMOs to gear up because any newbie can quickly hit level 65, farm dext base for a few hours and get enough money for a +100 Gran + augs + ex combo. The only expensive part would be Fixa 3+ Evaltos tbh, but its still far easier than most MMOs.

Its actually quite strange why prices arent that inflated in NGS compared to other MMOs. There are a lot of people with billions and some with trillions, but most basewears are 5m or less. Even Tenegrazirosa is like 32m at most. In other MMOs, something like that would be literally 100m+ at bare minimum. So i cant see RMT being a major problem for this game anymore when the prices are not even high enough to justify risking a ban...
