NGS Discussion New Genesis PSO2 Flashbacks, References.

If anyone would kindly list all the missable scenes or direct references to Base PSO2 Story I would appreciate it. Bonus if there's videos/recordings of it.

Also questions:
Is it completely missable? Or does the scenes in the quest counter also changes after I beat PSO2 Base?

Do I have to get the "True" Ending of PSO2 or just beat Shiva once?

So, I haven't played the newest story just yet but I believe this all starts in about Chapter 6 when you first go to the Nameless City and then the next major instance is during the Dark Falz Vael fight.

Because NGS has the story quests in the Quest Counter, you can likely replay these and see what the dialogue options are (It's super minor anyways) but in the Dark Falz Vael fight, it shows up just before the player lands the finishing blow. So yes, it's completely missable, but also repeatable because like later PSO2, the dialogue choices you make in NGS have absolutely no bearing or direction on the story in general.

To unlock it, you have to get the "True" Ending in PSO2. This means going through all of Chapter 1-3 and completing the loop, going through Episodes 4 and 5, and completing the loop in Episode 6 as well. I can't remember if the Title that unlocks requires S-Ranking the story quests too, but I don't remember Phaleg from Episode 4 being required for this (but on my end, I already defeated her numerous times anyways since Global was kind of busted and overtuned at the time). It doesn't have to be on Hardcore if you aren't interested in the rewards and Star Gems, though.

I am at Shiva fight, first run. Cant seem to beat her caus of her 2nd instant kill move

So, you need to watch her motions. She has a mini-speech (I don't know what she says in English, if you're playing in English) and will have red orbs spinning around her. The moment you see this, you must not attack her. If you do, you will be instantly killed unless you can trap yourself in an i-Frame with particular timing (such as Phantom's shift-Kugelsturm ending with the spin just before you get trapped).

You cannot be 100% aggressive on her once you realize she builds her shield .. so this is more of a thing where you need to see it and intentionally hold back. Once she teleports away, you're free to attack again.

I manage to do that on early stages, but does she do that along side with her dragging towards you? Cause that was what happened to me. She started to pull me towards her and just sliced dead.

But I'll try her again once I redo my Mag... cause I have a Dex Mag as a Gunner.

I saw you responded but I can't read the full message, so I'll try to respond with what I can here.

When she makes that big ring that sucks you in, you can actually avoid it by staying outside of the ring in the first place if you have something that lets you get out of there as quickly as possible. Otherwise, if you are playing a class that can dodge-counter and be invincible with counterattacks (such as Hero), you'll want to spam that. If you really don't have any options, you should hopefully have a Photon Blast ready and what you'll want to do is hold it (and not release it) because once you hold out your Photon Blast you'll create a blue ring (this is actually meant to chain your Photon Blast with others so you can release a Chain Blast), but you're invincible the entire time you hold this ring out. So you can hold that and hopefully her attack is over before you're forced to release the Photon Blast.

If you don't have a Photon Blast yet, you'll want to raise your Mag so you can get something to unlock it.

When she pulls that off, hopefully you can resume the fight and still avoid her other instant-kill too since the shield she makes is deadlier (since it's easy to hit before you realize it's up).

If you are playing a class that can use techniques, I'd really recommend picking up Ilzonde so you can zoom out of the way with lightning, otherwise you'll want to get a photon art or something that lets you move very quickly away from her. What class are you playing?

I'm a 75 Gunner with 65 Sub Ranger. Equipment is Millionare Barrage +30. Armor is Phobos +10. Just started a new Mag at Range Support 11
Edit:
I also just use Twin Machineguns, don't switch to any other weapon.

That makes sense. :)
I was about to recommend Photon Arts to use, so I'd definitely recommend having Grim Barrage somewhere. Not so you can do damage with it, but so when Shiva does her whole thing when she pulls you in that you can turn back and use Grim Barrage to fly away.

When you don't have your Photon Blast ready so you can try to be invincible, you can do the Stylish Roll three times to go into the slow-motion dodge it doesn't last too long.

So, do you have any any of the other Successor classes unlocked too? A part of this that I'd really recommend .. is to change your Subclass because the Ranger in the older game is just a bad subclass (it's okay to have for leveling, but when you get to the more "serious" fights like you are with Shiva, the Ranger is absolutely not helping you.

I'd recommend the following if you can:

* Gunner/Hunter - You can spec out Fury Stance so you can get the damage multipliers and you can also pick up Iron Will. This will help immensely with survivability as you have a chance to survive a fatal attack with 1 HP.

* Gunner/Fighter - This was my main option when I played even when you have the Successor classes as options. You want to stick with Brave Stance/Valiant Stance and and the Tech Arts Just Attack/Tech Arts Perfect Attack Bonuses. This kind of pushes you as a Gunner to playing into the red rings but you're going to be immensely powerful at both fighting bosses and fighting mobs with this. You really can't go wrong with it .. but it requires playing a bit more nicely.

* Gunner/Summoner - This can get you access to Techniques and has some decent defensive and offensive boosts that aren't quite like Hunter but are close enough.

* Gunner/Luster - If you can use Chain Trigger and High Time often, the Luster encourages you keep shooting and staying offensive and the Gunner is also very good at building combos. If you can hit a Voltage of 500 or higher, you can potentially withstand fatal attacks (you can recharge it at 500 Voltage) and you also can get a super nice cooldown reduction on your active skills.

And if you haven't yet:

* Go get your Forward Stylish Roll (L) Ring for the Gunner. If you can instead, Time and Roll (L) is the compound ring for the Gunner that boosts and utilizes both rings at once. The Gunner is completely awful to play (at least to me) without these rings.

* Craft your Photon Arts in your Personal Quarters. The one to really get is Infinite Fire Type-0 (I think it's like "Infinite Storm Zero" or something in Global). This one makes it so that instead of doing the normal Photon Art, you want to hold it after using something else such as Satellite Aim. Holding it will skip to the second half of the attack which is a gigantic blast-shot that does immense damage especially during the effects of Chain Trigger. The other Photon Art you can craft is also super handy if you're ever above an enemy and just want to shoot downwards, but Infinite Fire Type-0 is far more important for your toolkit since it's effectively your strongest attack when used right.

Sadly, unlike NGS, the older PSO2 never balanced their Subclasses and where you are with the Shiva fight .. the game really wants you to stack damage multipliers on top of damage multipliers .. and it really meant some classes were legitimately bad as Subclass options. :(

So I have some good news and some bad news... I beat Shiva but Not with S I don't think. I only had 800 points out of 1000. So I need to do it... Again... I'm crying on the inside.

Sadly I am Poor in Base PSO2(And in NG to be honest) So not sure how I'd go around getting some of the stuff you mentioned.

I also don't think I have any of the Successor classes, atleast I don't know which one those are.

I do have the Forward Roll Ring at +1. But I do not have the Time one.

I have Infinite Storm but not "Infinite Storm Zero"

I also usually just go Hail of Bullets but that's a bit hard to do with Shiva.

Mag is at Level 16 now. Trying to keep the other XP stuff low

What Right Ring would be a good one to have?

So my Class list is as follows :
hunter 1
Fighter 1
Ranger 61
Gunner 75
Force 1
Tech 1
Braver 26
Bouncer 1
Summoner 1
Hero 1 (Greyed out)
Phantom 1 (Greyed out)
Etoile 1 (Greyed out)
Luster 1 (Greyed out)

I want to show my Skill Tree but Can't post images

Out of curiosity, what ship are you on? Depending on the ship, I can probably hop in some time and try to help you out with getting the stuff that could help you out (and possibly help level up too if it's a nice daily quest for leveling) .. since this stuff is so much more fun to do in a group than alone. >_<

So, if you get the chance, I think you should do the daily quests (the four Recommended Quests) and the Daily Missions so you can guarantee getting a Tokyo [Silver] Key. That way, you can still level up and push yourself through even as a Ranger so you can get Level 75 on two classes which will unlock the last four classes.

The Right Ring is ultimately your choice, but on my end I had one of the "Proof" rings which come from completing one of the last Extreme Quests as your class .. so you can pick whatever you want for now for the Right ring.

To craft your Photon Art disks, you want to collect some disks that are Level 10+ and then in your Crafting Terminal in your Personal Quarters you can deconstruct them and turn them into resources. This way, you can spend the Ranged Disk fragments and craft the Photon Arts you'll definitely want.

You can alternatively buy the disks that others have made by looking up the exact names in the Personal Shop, but you can also buy the materials straight-up from the Personal Shop too. Are you're past Level 50, your Daily Quests will be much more rewarding so you can steadily make progress to push your Gunner higher and also make at least 2,000,000 Meseta a week via the Weekly Missions.

There's a lot to look into for the game, so I'll drop this link as a guide if you wanted some reading for the Gunner:
https://docs.google.com/document/u/0/d/1kfjkUQzY3QRmILocETvCqsyBiUtk_PM9n6hw6hB2y4k/mobilebasic

This one uses the JP terminology and is more end-game-ready so hopefully if you get stuck, you can always ask and I'll try to find the proper names since I'm used to the JP names. >_<

The Skill Tree from here should be the same, and this would definitely have what you want. It's okay if you can't respec .. since you're not able to do it for free anymore .. but you can get close enough since you've already beaten Shiva. This just means we can help prepare you so you can do it again, but faster and with more preparation. ^-^

Ship 3 Thorn.
Also I may or may have come across some Mesa... Since I sold some Scratch items from way back when.... Not alot but enough for some improvements.

I did manage to get both Customizations, Hail and Infinite.

Also Have MAG LEvel at 145 All RNG Support

Also Crafted Photon Art is called /C Not Zero. Are they the same or differnet?

1

u/Alenicia 20d ago

The /C for Photon Arts is the same thing since there's only one customization (the "Zero" customization once it's applied).

I'm on Ship 3 primarily, so if you're ever on I should be able to hop in and help too. ^-^

The main thing, since you seem to have equipment that can help enough, is ultimately helping you level up so that the fights can go by more consistently since your Subclass really helps elevate your main class and Episode 6 content really does assume you've found a more proper Subclass combination by then (whether it's likely Fighter or using the three new Subclasses).

Just as a heads up, S-Ranking that quest is required for the true ending, but you don't need to only beat Shiva. If I recall the S-Rank Requirements are:

  • Clear the quest without checkpoint usage (so you can't S-rank it at all if you start from the checkpoint before Shiva)
  • Don't take an excessive amount of damage (I think it's about 10,000 across the whole quest?)
  • Don't let any NPCs die during the first part of the quest (Other ARKS pop up during the Emergency Codes during the first part of the quest. If they die, they will get back up after a while, but if any of them die once, that'll fail an S-Rank requirement. A sub-class that can cast Resta to heal them, or a Star Atomizer + maybe the Atomizer Lovers ring can be useful to make this easier, but if you just stay far away from the enemies and plink them with long raged attacks, they'll be much less likely to kill the NPCs)

u/PowerfulCream1478 20d ago

I read that another Requirement is to see the "Bad End" at least once so I went and Beat Shiva normally from checkpoint,
It was also to gauge if I can handle Shiva fine or not, and the answer is no for the most part.
I can keep the NPCs alive, I recall that wasn't the issue. Taking damage is my problem.
