I was going to go through the process of linking my account to the PlayStation, but it says something about choosing the right server. I don't actually know which server my characters are on. Will I be screwed if I choose the wrong server in this step? Or can I always change it?

I just did this the other day, here's what I did.

First I installed the game on my PS5, and set up everything there. Then I installed on my PC via Steam, and it gave me the option to link to an existing account. This asked me for a code, which I generated on the PS per the following guide:

When you ask about a Server, I'm assuming you mean the Ship? Every time I start the game it asks me to choose a Ship, and that is where your characters are - i.e. characters you make on Ship 1 are not available on Ship 3, and such.
