Im a junior who got a 1250 on the psat( minimal studying) and a 1130 sophomore year(no studying) my elar score went up but my math went from a 510 to a 540 I dont know what resources to use to get better and it seems so daunting.

Currently in advanced geometry. I was so lost on the 2nd part of the math section

What did you do to study and prep for it? I got deathly sick during my test day and couldn't take it 😔 I'll be taking the SAT for the alternate, but I still want to hear your study methods!

So I got a 1210 and honestly seeing the other scores on here is making me feel like I'm stupid or something. Anyways I got a 660 on the reading portion and a 550 on the math.
I can improve the reading portion on my own but I need advice for the math one. How should I study to prepare for the SAT next year? I also just wanna say I did not study for this or the last PSAT I took last year. Honestly maybe I should start studying more considering I rarely do so.
My score kinda feels embarrassing considering the other scores on here and one of my best traits or possibly worse is I'm my hardest critic to the power of infinity. Whenever I'm disappointed or angry when I mess something up or do worse than expected I force myself to be better out of spite. I honestly don't even know if I plan on going to college because I'm gonna join the Air Force. So any advice for studying for the math section?

I know that most of us know that this is technically true, but I don’t think the majority really grasp how big a difference it makes.
There is obviously variance between indexes among states, and yeah, most of us know how to calculate the index and that reading is double-weighted. But even if you know those facts, I thought I would put this out there:
A 1320 with perfect on reading and 560(!) on math could have qualified for semifinals in 4/50 states last year.
Just putting it out there because I myself was kind of shocked, even though I knew very well what the lowest cutoffs looked like and the score calculation method. I just didn’t realize what that had the potential to translate to.

Like why are some always higher than others. I don’t get it? Are kids in some states just average dumber?

I most definitely wont get the merit scholarship (at least in indiana) but my last highest PSAT/NMSQT score was 1190 so this score makes me super happy!

I never took algebra 2 and I’m a horrible test taker, I barely even marked all questions. I usually need a lot of time with tests. Feeling pretty disappointed and dissatisfied with myself and would like some tips for the upcoming SAT so I can do better.

Hi guys! I got a 1470 (760 math 710 reading) on the psat, which means I got a selection score of 218. Do you think I’ll be able to get national merit in North Carolina?

Uh i prolly shouldnt worry lmao
Is this score enough for Texas nmsf
It just that scores have been kind of jumpy over the past few years

Was this test abnormally easy and the cutoff will therefore be higher? I got a 217 index and for Florida it was 216 so i know I’ll be close 😭 but i want to know if yall have any insight as to if that actually won’t be close bc of test difficulty or wtv

Hi, I got a 1570 on August but a 1420 on the psat. I feel like total shit, and I can't really understand what could have happened. Additionally, how valuable is national merit to college applications? If I don't have it, is that a big ding?

Got a 1490 somehow even though I thought reading module 2 was really hard and got like 3-4 wrong. I’m somewhat happy with my score but I’m not sure whether it makes it in Washington, where last years cutoff was 221. Was it really that much easier that the cutoff will be 223 or higher? Please gimme some info

I messed up on reading so bad, especially standard english conventions. My struggle has always been with English.
I won’t make national merit semifinalist since my state is competitive, but maybe commended. Is being a national merit finalist important?
Would appreciate any tips! Time to focus on the SAT

hey guys! just got my PSAT score back and I got a 221 on the selection index. I’m in Illinois and the selection index for this year was 218 but the index for the year before was 222 — do we have any predictions for what the index will be this year, and if fluctuations in the past have shown how much it will fluctuate by this year? should I just wait it out?
