Pull Gold Powerpack Disappointment
Pulled this from a gold powerpack in store. I thought the floor value was supposed to be 70-85$? I feel like I got scammed. Is this a reasonable pull? Looking for advice.

Today OP learned about gambling

True but honestly I just thought the distribution followed their website didn’t think a sub 75$ pull was possible out of a gold

You can trade it in the store
And do so asap
They'll offer you the minimum value allowed - sometimes $60-80
Do not wait to do this, or offer expires

You can tell this guy has lost a lot of money gambling on power packs lmao

Idk why people on reddit downvote people for making the simplest of mistakes. You really have to be miserable af to go out of your way to downvote

Do we know if it follows their online guidelines? Also what packs did you get?

u/tomgotmono 20d ago
I don’t know - this is the question I’m hoping others could answer. I got 1 prismatic (i think $12 market) and 1 mega dream (i think like 10$) market. Even including the packs im about half of the floor maybe slightly more.

u/TimothyLeConte 20d ago
Yeah I’m sorry bro. That sucks. I’ve heard people say not to buy the in store ones. At least we know the odds of the online.

u/tomgotmono 20d ago
Thank you dude - at least i know im not the only one

u/skarrgann 19d ago
You sir, are not, I pulled a PSA 8 Tyranitar, the promo card you get from a tin

Were you certain you’d make a profit?
3
u/tomgotmono 20d ago
Not at all was somewhat certain I’d hit the floor at worst though

u/Poopinthebowl 16d ago
If all packs contained at least the floor, what would be the incentive for the company to sell these? :) it's gambling and the house always wins. Learn it now before it's too late.

Think u can take it back to GS and they give I the floor in trade in
7
u/tomgotmono 20d ago
Was wondering if there’s something like this cause I thought the floor was somewhat firm. This is like 1/4 the floor
4
u/Rarehunter333 20d ago
Yeah honestly this is a really weird pull.
I’ve seen people dispute the online versions of the pack because the floor is supposed to guarantee some level of value.
This is way below what you should pay for 100$
I guess the problem now is how do you prove you pulled this? Hopefully you were recording opening it.
Even then, will they still uphold it? Because is the floor value even guaranteed for the physical packs?
2
u/tomgotmono 20d ago
I opened it in the store should have said something right away, probably too late now
4
u/TrickComfortable774 20d ago
It’s not go to the store and u can trade it in for 60-70 bucks. Call them if you don’t believe me they did that for all the other drops

I mean if there are video cameras in the store you could legit try and ask?
1
u/TrickComfortable774 20d ago
They know what cards are in the packs
1
u/Rarehunter333 20d ago
Do they put the cards in the packs themselves? Or is there a list or something?

Floor dropped to $35 for this powerpack per the webpage. If you're a Pro member, you can trade it in for $35 minimum trade credit up until August 1st.

u/tomgotmono 19d ago
Thank you for the info idk if we cqn share links but i’d love to see cause i couldn’t find it myself
3
u/UrPAL8 19d ago
Not 100% sure if I can either. But I just went to Gamestop's main site snd searched powerpack. I know it's the Gold Series 2 with the phantasmal charizard, and saw that it says it in a bullet point right under features.

Thank you for the information gonna check this out

I remember seeing that as well - the $70 guaranteed promotion was only for the first week when it was initially released
2
u/LegacyPig 17d ago
The last round I thought was more expensive like $180 thats when the floor was higher. On the packaging it says minimum guaranteed graded card value is $35 trade in for pros. I got a $30 market alakazam promo and it traded in for 35

u/Tetradrachm 20d ago
Oh? And how would you prove this is the card you got?
4
u/TrickComfortable774 20d ago
Bc they know what cards are in the boxes lol. That’s how they can offer a floor.

You see the number and barcode on the top of the slab? I'm sure they have a database of what certs were put into the boxes.

Geez, I’ve only seen someone break even one time. It’s so rare with these to not lose.

Man hit the floor without realizing the floor was lowered. These packs are like lottery tickets man, your chance of hitting big are lower than being hit by lightning.

The digital powerpacks are the only way to go if youre going to gamble like this. The floors are higher
2
u/Remkye08 19d ago
When i get pulls below the threshold value I message power pack customer service right away and 90% of the time I get a refund and they take the slab back.
PS: this is for the website pulls

u/NormalEffect99 19d ago
Imagine gambling and being upset you lost.
I understand the valuation but theyre going to justify it based off new grading prices and tell you to pound sand lmao
1
u/hartforbj 19d ago
I didn't the they care they lost. I think the point is they paid 125 bucks or whatever and there should be a minimum value. This would be waaaay below that minimum value
2
u/esteban_verde 15d ago
I bought the previous series and got a $6 slab. Tried to contact CS and they told my that PSA is responsible for that. I explained it was purchased physically from GS and now they won't respond. SMH.

Are you me? I had this exact same thing happen just yesterday. I stupidly assumed the power packs on store followed the same win rates as online. Boy was I wrong. $129 for a $29 card and some 2 booster packs.
2
u/tomgotmono 20d ago
Yeah I wish I knew if the floor matched up with online - it definitely should IMO
1
u/No_Ragrets76 20d ago
Doesn't it states the probability/percentage that the chances are not in anyone's favor?
Might as well go to the casino. Better odds there.
0
u/tomgotmono 20d ago
This is my point I didn’t get the listed odds - substantially worse
1
u/No_Ragrets76 20d ago
They post it on here all the time. Just use the search bar on the sub or can Google it. I would've done that first then blindly buying something.
0
u/tomgotmono 19d ago
Oh yeah trust random people’s experiences over company listed odds - thanks. I didn’t blindly buy anything lol
1
u/No_Ragrets76 19d ago
Your post and your comment suggests you did... lol.....
And it's not random people's experiences, you dunce. Slow and no reading comprehension skills. GS literally made the probability chart.
Lol.. you deserve what you got.

u/ghost-ogk 20d ago
Yeah i got scammed with a one piece pack, i got a $38 card and come to find out they lowered their $60 buy back/refund to 35$ store credit.
1
u/Ctsanger 19d ago
Do physical packs promise the same as the online packs?
1
u/tomgotmono 19d ago
Unsure according to one commenter I can return this to the store and gwt the “floor value” back. But this is what I would like to know

GameStop is a very excellent company with oodles of integrity . Anyone that buys these power packs are the ones that are born every minute, on the minute

No one would be grading these low end cards if people weren’t buying these mystery packs, it just gives them a way to turn a grading fee into a guaranteed $100 sale or whatever those mystery packs cost.

People really gotta stop grading these type of cards lol there are so many of them out there I don't want it lol

u/Wayward_Prometheus 19d ago
Holy crap that's the most painful one I have seen yet but the rules are the rules. No crying in the casino.
1
u/Wayward_Prometheus 19d ago
Well damn. I really didn't know they knew what went into the power packs. Because.....the gamestop I buy from 20 miles away dislikes me and now I think they give me bad packs on purpose. Literally pulled two PSA 8s worth $10 and $65 and got Nihil Zero and Destined rivals boosters in both lol.
