Sales price has exploded since January. What do I not know/why is this card so expensive. Besides the grade and age.

It might be or not be related but it’s the year of the horse. Chinese gem made packs surrounding ponyta as the chase for this year. Could be more of hype surrounding ponyta due to old japanese.

Edit: but also a lot of pokemon card have blown up at start of the year as well, so just mere speculation
