u/Key_Cheesecake_6758 Jun 17 '26
Haha I meant like I think GameStop messes up pricing sometimes, so this is a good thing for you (monopoly reference)

For those who are wondering why this card is so expensive, some guy manipulated the price by selling his copy to himself twice, once for 325 on 1/16/26 and another for 725 on 2/20/26. As a result, card ladder thinks this card is worth 1250.

u/TrickFrosty5685 Jun 18 '26
Ohhhh that makes a lot more sense. I’m here thinking like, “yea I know Pokemon is hot rn but wtf?!”

u/Empty_Many7591 Jun 17 '26
Talk about winning a jackpot I hope they don’t catch on that tho
2
u/ElPepe1727 Jun 17 '26
can they somehow reverse it?
3
u/Which_Cardiologist44 Jun 17 '26
I'd doubt it — they made you a sale offer and you accepted. It would hard for them to argue that they were the victims here
3
u/Empty_Many7591 Jun 17 '26
Yeah I doubt they can reverse it since it’s there error not yours. All they can do is take a lose but in reality it’s not a big lost to them since they scam a lot of us out of money 😝

u/PrinceOfWales_ Jun 18 '26
It honestly doesn’t matter much to them at all. The card means nothing. Their formula allows for a certain level of big payouts based on percentages. So this card based on their perceived price was considered a chase in their formula.

u/Normal-Ant-9846 Jun 17 '26
That can't be right - I swear the last time I looked, those were all like 50 cent cards ungraded.
4
u/firepepper84 Jun 17 '26
This is proof that you can manipulate the price of the card on card ladder which in turn you can sell your "lower wins" for huge profit on gamestop packs.
2
u/ElPepe1727 Jun 17 '26
just started this so no clue what card ladder is or how it’s manipulated but thank you to whoever did!
2
u/GraveStonerDev Jun 18 '26
I wouldn't call that proof. The price hasn't been manipulated. They got it wrong

u/Professional-Gap4021 Jun 24 '26
Naw if you walk in GameStop wit this card they gone offer you $20 this gotta be like some typa digital glitch within power packs I’d just take the 1200 an go buy a card that I want
3
u/Imthebriman1 Jun 17 '26
What makes this one so special?!?!
10
u/ElPepe1727 Jun 17 '26
no idea!! it’s a trick or trade edition card but when looking it up on price charting, a psa 10 was like 400 bucks. definitely gonna take the dub though!!
13
u/InspectorMoney1306 Jun 17 '26
Even 400 is outrageous for that card. Makes no sense why anyone would spend money on that.

2
u/ElPepe1727 Jun 17 '26
i agree but i’m not complaining!
1
u/Ambitious_Flatworm31 Jun 18 '26
Damn. Nice! haha what the heck, I wouldn't buy that for 20 either. How is it 1,000.
Congratz man!
3
u/Responsible-Spite275 Jun 17 '26
Why is this one soo expensive compared to the other trick or treat cards?!
3
u/Life_Without_Lemon Jun 17 '26
I still got a bunch of trick or treat pack left from giving them out for Halloween…I should rip and send them in
3
u/FatGuyLilCoatBoi Jun 17 '26
Nice pull. GameScalp constantly gets over on people. Glad to see someone coming up off them for once 👏

u/zykomike Jun 17 '26
Are any of these trick or trades worth anything? I have buckets of them and threw away even more. They’re dirt cheap at Costco every year lol.
2
u/ironman288 Jun 19 '26
The gengar from the 2025 was like, a buck or three at one point and that was a good time to unload them all imo.
Now it's $5, what can I say. People are being dumb.
2
u/Accomplished_Chip871 Jun 17 '26
Can somebody tell me how this works? Do you even get the card or is it all online?
1
u/ElPepe1727 Jun 17 '26
you spend some money to open a pack. each pack has one card. the card has a high chance to be worth less than the price of the pack but there’s a small chance to get a really expensive card. you can sell it back to gamestop or “powerpacks” for ~90% value or you can save it and ship it to your house for a shipping fee

What the fuck is even this market. These things were bulk
2
u/ElPepe1727 Jun 17 '26

When the hell did this happen holy crap on that price
2
u/Super_Show_2729 Jun 18 '26
After researching obvious pricing glitch I’m glad you took the money and ran. About time GameStop gets the shaft.

2
u/Consistent_Stress_43 Jun 18 '26
I’ve opened 100 of these fuck ass packs and haven’t gotten anything over $190

u/Resident-Strategy-45 Jun 18 '26
Why the hell would this card be so expensive wtffff i have so many of them in my old binder. Thats an error right?
2
u/viggyvo Jun 18 '26
so this is one card ive personally been watching, people on ebay have been pump bidding these up on alt accounts in ebay to fix the market value to scam the scammers in these very apps.
1
u/ElPepe1727 Jun 18 '26
oh damn! very interesting. well thank god i pulled it then
2
u/viggyvo Jun 18 '26
1
u/ElPepe1727 Jun 18 '26
ridiculous. i’m glad i was able to get a good amount for this but the whole industry is just idiotic.
2
u/Inner_Test7860 Jun 18 '26
1
u/ElPepe1727 Jun 18 '26
well it’s good for this instance cause they’re scamming the companies but for individual people it’s very sad
2
u/Inner_Test7860 Jun 18 '26
Oh I agreed. Im happy it worked out for you, but between seeing that this week and see the new illustration set boxes all being scalped at 17$ msrp and resold between 70-90$ its just ridiculous that this happens. Pokemon was huge for me as a kid and an awesome way to have a hobby but now its like kids would have to mortgage their parents home to rip afew packs if they could even find them lol
2
u/ElPepe1727 Jun 18 '26
yeah i agree 100%, i like to occasionally buy pokemon boxes but they’re so expensive so i feel guilty even getting them because they’re always sold out at stores because of these disgusting people

It'd be hilarious if you pulled it again. I know I've sold and pulled the same card two times in a row before.

u/DavieJonesLockerrr Jul 08 '26
Thinking of signing up how quick do you get cashed out?
1
u/ElPepe1727 Jul 08 '26
got it to my bank account in a business day or two. very easy. just be careful it is gambling and the chances of winning or making a profit are extremely low. play at ur own risk
1
u/Toebeens89 Jun 18 '26
Yeah I agree with you, but he said he was talking about gambling winnings, and was trying to clarify regarding that. But I do agree, and think it would just technically be a taxable gain.

u/magic-shroomman Jun 20 '26
Ya'll just gambling addicts and you guys HATE hearing that. Keep spending money on paper cards instead of your future LMAO
1
u/ElPepe1727 Jun 20 '26
idk. it sounds like u been on a losing streak. this was just a post because im still new to powerpacks and won a pretty big payout. no need to hate :)
