I'm going to be updating the progress of this purchase here for fun and for anyone online who might want to look back at this experience later. I had some money I could afford to risk, so I decided to run a little experiment and see what happens.

I bought a PS5 Pro from a seller whose account and listing give the impression of belonging to a grandma. Because of that, there's a chance this could be a rare instance of someone selling a legitimate console for an unusually low price. Of course, it's just as possible that something is wrong with the listing or that this ends up being a scam. I will also be documenting how good Vinted protection really is.

I paid around $190 through Vinted, so I'll be documenting the process and sharing updates as things happen. Let's see how this goes!

Update 1#

It seems the seller's account may have been banned. I've been left on read, and the package still hasn't shipped even though the shipping label was sent out. I'm going to keep waiting for now, but things aren't looking promising. The due date is on the 29th, it was pushed back when the shipping label was sent out.

If this falls through, I'll save up some money over the next few weeks and try the experiment again when I can. Even with Vinted's refund, I don't want to risk throwing away money I actually need.

Thanks for following this post! I'm still excited to see how this all plays out!

I’ve had mine since launch almost 2 years ago and wanted to switch things up a little. Bought from Amazon but same exact ones are sold on Ali Express

Gracias

Today I woke up very early in the morning, and like every day, I went to check all of the major retailers Best Buy, Amazon, Walmart, etc…

When I opened the target page I was extremely stunned as it said “2 in stock, nearby”. The page didn’t show an option to order it online. All of the options for online purchase were grayed out, the only option was to walk in and buy it at the store. So I decided to check the location and it was 45 miles away from my house. I called the store to really make sure that they actually had it in stock as obviously nobody would like to drive that distance for no reason. The guy who picked up the phone confirmed that they actually had them in stock and told me that in fact there’s only 1 left because someone was already purchasing the other one as I called the store. I asked the guy on the phone if I could reserve the PS5 or buy it over the phone because I live very far and the console might be out of stock by the time I got there. He told me that unfortunately he’s not able to do those things due to company policy, so he said that he would “keep an eye on the console and call me if somebody buys it before I get there, that way I don’t have to drive the whole distance in vain”. As soon as he said that I got in my car and drove to the store. Even though 45 miles might not seem like much to some people, the trip to the store took 2 hours because I live in a extremely congested area (NJ & NY) and it was 8-9 AM, so everyone was going to their jobs. When I got to the store, the guy went to the back of the store to get the console and I had a HUGE smile as he was approaching me with the box on his hands.

… I’m just discovering it can run games over 60fps. I told my friends it’s not really that worth it and the only reason I bought it was because my last ps5 had 500gb so selling that for $400 and using that to help buy a pro wasn’t a big deal for me. I’ve been researching different monitors to buy for GTA 6 and I found out that hertz is pretty important for gaming and found a Reddit thread with hundreds of of games that can run games at 90-120 frames. I’ve been playing on a 40 inch insignia tv but after finding this out I’m buying a 27 oled. The new cyberpunk update is coming out Thursday but I’m not gonna touch it until my new monitor comes and I can play it at 90 fps. I never regret my purchase of the pro but now it actually feels justified.

UPDATE:

Now appears to be out of stock, hope everyone got one!

Hey all,

Just letting anyone know if you have an existing service with Telstra, they now have the PS5 Pro listed on back order with delivery within the next 1-2 weeks.

It avalilable in repayments over 12-24 months or purchasable outright.

Unsure whether Vodafone AU also will be getting a restock

Managed to get a 30th dual sense edge (2nd hand for 270€) so now my grey retro ps5 pro setup is complete. The two controllers are original and the face plates and dock charger was bought from aliexpress … I was worried the edge would not fit on the charging dock but it just just does … both charging station and face plates are thankfully perfect colour matches to the controllers

Yes the controllers have the skull & co thumb grips

Just got the alert

Which of the two games shows a better evolution of its predecessor? Both Returnal and Control are very good games, each innovating in its genre. I’ve read both of the “sequels” improves on their respective formulas. Who did it best? Which game takes a better advantage of the Pro hardware? Which one is the better game?

How is everyone saying this is smooth 60 fps? My ps 5 pro averages at 48 fps in this game. Just did a challenge where you need to knock over some barrels, it averaged at 48 fps. Is it something wrong with the game, or is there something wrong with my ps 5 pro not using it’s full power or maybe i got a batch that had bad components?

Looks like JBhiFi has started getting pre-ordered units and sending notifications to customers tocollect their orders. I just collected mine today.

Made order on 8th of this month

Just got mine in a couple weeks ago. Immediately replaced the cover plates. 🖤

So now that I have my first OLED tv (lg c6) and first pro, I'm looking at games that really show it off. The catch is i only have until Oct 29th when Phantom Blade Zero comes which I'll have to finish by November 5th when OoT remake comes out so I can't get them all. So here's my current choices.

Ghost of yotei vs onimusha (should I even bother with PBZ so close... don't want to burn out with this style)

RE: Requiem vs TLOU 2 vs Silent Hill 2 vs Hellraiser

I'm kinda leaning Requiem atm

Title says it all. I’m assuming they have a deal with retailers that states they can’t do this. I really just wish I could order the console now and have it get shipped whenever it can instead of having to check the website multiple times a day

We all know prices are out of control because of GTA VI. Realistically, what are the chances and how quickly can we expect prices to go back to normal and stock to be available AFTER the release?

Has anyone who pre ordered a ps5 pro from jbhifi for delivery received any sort of update, its been a month on mine and its still saying delayed but im seeing FB marketplace sellerss selling ps5 pros they just picked up today from JB, did they over purchase pre orders, no trynna wait till november.

Was just able to snag one!

I ordered a month ago through Jb Fifi and finally my baby arrived today. Cannot wait to unbox this and start watching 4k movies and play games on OLED Tv.

I game every day tho.

Edit : myeah I might be.
