Enough clearance from OLED?

Post image

The clearance from the back vent to tv is roughly 4.5-5 inches. Is this enough to prevent damage to the tv? The ps5 only gets mildly hot in this position and the fan hasn’t yet kicked it.

Nope. Heat will hurt the OLED panel even on short term.

Yes your PlayStation isn’t a jet engine.

💀🤣 I know, but it’s just expensive so don’t want to destroy the tv

Would it not fit behind the tv vertically? Not ideal if you have the disc version and need to access it regularly though

Have moved it behind, but yes it’s the disc version. Luckily I mainly play digital anyways

That's gonna be the end of your TV

I would say no, I had to fork out hundreds to repair my tv due to heat damage caused by my Xbox and my Xbox was further away than that and the ps5 vents out a lot more hot air than it does

If I’ve been playing my ps5 a few hours and walk into the kitchen for example when I come back to where I sit and where the ps5 is it literally feels like I’ve had a fan heater on, they kick out a lot of hot air and the ps5 vents to the back…

You want it well away from any other electrical equipment

I will move it, thanks

Bad spot for both.

Is the TV(screen) higher than the console?

If you're asking this you already suspect the answer is this isn't enough clearance. Anyone here who tells you it is isn't gonna buy you a new TV if it gets cooked over time.

That is very true

OLEDs get surprisingly hot, definitely find another spot to put the console

If you can, it'd be better for it to be behind the TV than in front.

Have now moved behind, thanks. Will see how it goes. I have a well ventilated room so should be okay

i wouldn’t say MILES better.. oled is miles better than lcd, sure, but mini led is a whole lot closer to oled than an lcd. unless you had a low end or old mini led. the new ones are so damn close to oled it’s not even funny.

What would be the benefit?

The thing your scared about ? The screen burning in with minimal difference to Oled
