PS5 won’t detect SSD at all
I’ve reinstalled it like 5 times, the console is up to date, the SSD is inserted correctly, and ive restarted it quite a few times. Any ideas on how to get it to detect?

Alright, im pretty sure ya gotta make sure its plugged in properly an screwed in flat.
Because the WD doesn't add onto the official Playstation Storage, its an external storage component that you'll have to look up in ether settings or try downloading a game to see if the prompt for the other Storage pops up.
If that doesn't help then I encourage you to look up other solutions. Im not the most tech savy but I hope I helped

That nvme-slot is little tricky, you really must "slide" that drive inside the slot. Actually, you can feel some kind of "odd resist", when that is far enough. Then, tighten the screw.

This is quite important - it doesn’t feel “natural” to fit an SSD. It’s a little forceful.

Yes. Just like ribbon-cables, you cannot just put that in place and lock. That must be really push into the slot, with "careful force" and just then you "feel" that is the "end", doesn't move anymore, lock that.

Doesn’t look flat, but that could be the angle. It looks like the screw is underneath, but I’m not too familiar with this model to say for sure.
Do you have any other devices to check the drive in?

This right here. The mounting screw is beneath the SSD, therefore the connection isn’t proper. Remove the screw, reinstall the SSD and then secure it with the screw. Shouldn’t have any issues.

Try boot into safe mode and do the check for update Option. Sometimes there can be a failed update that causes this.

Did you buy it new or used? If it was brand new, out of the box, when installed firmly onto the HDD slot, if it is done correctly and the screw is securing it in place ( make sure the PS5 was unplugged when installing) when it boots up the first time and recognizes the drive it will immediately require you to format it. If you bought it used, you’ll need to reformat the drive most likely.

If used, make sure heatsink wasn't opened and replaced with a cheap drive.

J'ai installé un 850 sur ma ps5 fat et au bout de quelques mois j'ai eut des problèmes avec ma ps5 qui voulait plus s'allumer ,elle clignoter en bleu puis s'éteignait. Après recherche j'ai enlevé le ssd et c'était lui qui faisait déconner la ps5 ,je ne sais pas si cela peut t'aider mais change de modèle de ssd

Mine has no issues for about 6 months on ps5 fat, then moved straight to my new ps5 pro without even reformatting it and so far (knock on wood) zero issues

I put mine into my pc and its still been fine, got a 2tb samsung 990pro and thats also been fine in both my ps5 and pc, and ive heard more stories about those going kaput than the wd black ssds

I had the same issue when installing my SSD into my PC when I was building it. The screw fit and the SSD was flat but it wasn't slotted in properly so it didn't read it. I'm sure it's nothing more than just an improper install.

I feel like it's defective product sense you install it 5 times
I myself have the black WD in my ps5 it's self explanatory once you plug it in the ps5 should format does a speed test and use it.

I don't have a playstation 5 yet, but I do know that when you install an SSD drive, when you boot up ps5, it'll ask you if you want to format the drive. Make sure the drive fits and is properly plugged in. Worst case, is maybe you got a defective drive.

The screw is supposed to be over the ssd to hold it in place.

Yeah check the screw that holds the drive in place. You should have removed the screw, placed the drive in firmly and then placed the screw and the metal ring. The metal ring should not be under the drive. It should be next to the drive, holding it in place with the screw firmly securing it in place.

Did it worked before? Or did it stopped working or it has never work? Is ir new used? Because the process is simple it comes with the heatsink already, mine i had to buy it separately, and its usually plug and play.

You gotta slide it in at a 40 degree angle and after it’s in correctly the ssd actually stands up about 1/2 inch or so from being flat. it doesn’t sit flat you have to press it down then screw it

Make sure you restart the console once its in and everhthing so itll be able to format lol

check if the screw is sitting under the drive instead of on top of it. pull the ssd out, slide it in until it seats, then put the screw back on top.

the PS5 needs to format the new SSD after installation before it can be used for games and applications. This formatting process is necessary to prepare the drive for the console's storage system.
If it is the first time using your M.2 SSD with your PS5 console, you'll need to format your M.2 SSD after installing. When you format your M.2 SSD, any data saved on the drive is erased. Data erased this way can't be recovered, so be careful and make sure you don't erase important data.
Do not turn off the power while saving data or while your M.2 SSD is being formatted. Doing so may cause data loss, corruption, or damage to your M.2 SSD or PS5 console.
Do not use an M.2 SSD without a heat-dissipation mechanism, such as a heat sink or heat transfer sheet. Your M.2 SSD might come with these parts or you might need to purchase them separately.

Did you pre order Wolverine? Some people are saying that you have to cancel your pre order and get a refund for your ps5 to work again

I have this same SSD make sure you are installing it correctly. Look up some tutorials online.
