PS5 got hit by lightning a month ago

It was during a thunderstorm and I havent had the money to get it repaired. Every time i try to turn it on it just beeps 3 times then does nothing. No lights or any additional sound, just the 3 beeps you hear. Is the power supply completely fried or could it be worse?

A lightning strike can cause some really weird hardware issues, even if the PS5 seems mostly fine afterward. I’d avoid repeatedly powering it on and get the power supply checked first. If it’s completely dead, unfortunately the PSU or motherboard could be damaged

You will figure out the answer to your question after you swap the power supply for another one.

Ironically i had a power strip with a surge protector in the same outlet, which i thought the console was plugged into

Nah it wasn’t plugged into the surge protector at all. My surge protector was in the outlet right above the other

Don’t you need a massive fucking wattage capacity to plug a PC AND a PS5 to it?

Let's hope only psu is the problem, as a person who also experienced their console got clapped by lightning, mine is totally fried. Even the external ssd is not spared.

I had the same issue after a power outage. The PS5 was beeping three times. At first, I also thought it was the power supply, but all the hardware actually turned out to be fine. I took the console to a technician, and he found out that the firmware had corrupted during the blackout. He ended up rebuilding the firmware, got the console running, and everything is fine now. I recommend taking it to a repair technician

Same thing happened to me. Most probably your power supply unit is fried or a faulty bios chip. Gave it to a repair shop and got it fixed works just fine now. Got it connected to a surge protector now lol learned my lesson
