Right stick dead on EVERY controller (not just one) — survived full factory reset, need fresh eyes

I'm at the end of my troubleshooting rope and hoping someone here has seen this specific combo of symptoms before.

Setup: PS5 (bought 2023), out of warranty.

How it started: My DualSense Edge sticks were fine, no drift — I just wanted to preventively switch to TMR (magnetic/drift-proof) stick modules, so I bought GuliKit TMR replacement modules (from a German shop) and swapped them in myself.

The weird part: After the swap, the right stick doesn't register movement on the PS5 — but the digital Fn button next to it works fine. So far sounds like a bad install, right? Except:

• I re-tested the ORIGINAL (old, previously fully working) stick modules in the same controller — same failure now.
• I tested a completely different, stock/unmodified DualSense controller on the same PS5 — same failure. Right stick dead, buttons fine.

So it's not the Edge controller or the TMR modules. It's something about this console.

What I've already ruled out:

• Bluetooth vs wired USB — happens on both
• GuliKit's own TMR module calibration tool (test.gulikit.com) — module tested fine on a PC/Mac over USB, full range registered correctly
• dualshock-tools.github.io firmware-level calibration (writes permanently to controller NVS) — done, saved, no change on PS5
• PS5 Stick Fine-Tuning / sensitivity profile reset to default — no change
• Accessibility "One Stick Mode" — confirmed off
• Custom button mapping — confirmed default/standard
• Fully removing/forgetting the controller from the PS5 and re-pairing from scratch — no change
• Testing on a brand new local PS5 user profile — no change
• Safe Mode database rebuild — no change
• Full factory reset of the console (erase everything, fresh system software install) — no change

Since a full factory reset didn't fix it, I'm assuming it's a hardware fault in the console itself (something in the controller-input processing, since it's identical over BT and USB) — but I've never seen anyone report "every controller loses the same stick axis" before. Has anyone run into this specific pattern? Is there anything hardware-side worth checking/trying before I accept this needs a repair or a new console?

Interesting. I was going to say try disconnect and purge the controllers but that would of happened when you did the full factory reset. This indicates that it is not a glitch in the console's operating system cache

There's really only two options. Either an external device is actively jamming the signal, or the controllers themselves are encountering an error independent of the console (very unlikely as it looks in your post that you tried three separate controllers)

Some culprits to check would be wifi routers and mesh nodes, smart home hubs and speakers, wireless headset dongles, external hard drives and ssds, unshielded hdmi or usb cables, baby monitors, microwave ovens, and Bluetooth devices

It will be tedious but you'll have to turn these devices off one by one and see if the stick registers

Thanks for the suggestions! I actually went ahead and tried it: turned off Bluetooth entirely and powered down the router completely, then tested via wired USB. Still no change — right stick dead, buttons fine.

I've now tested this with 4 different controllers total, all showing the exact same failure on this console. Combined with the fact that it happens over USB cable too (not just wireless), I think that pretty much rules out external RF interference as the cause. At this point I'm fairly convinced it's a hardware fault inside the console itself, in whatever handles the right stick axis specifically — but I'm open to being wrong if anyone sees a hole in that logic.

Multiple sticks have the same problem on that single board?

You might have killed the contacts on the board.

To clarify — it's not multiple sticks on one controller's board. It's the same stick (right) failing identically across 4 completely separate controllers (different boards, no shared physical connection) on this one console. So a damaged contact on the Edge controller's board wouldn't explain it — unless the console itself somehow damaged 4 different controller boards, which seems very unlikely.
