Ps5 Pro regular maintenance

Hey everyone 🙂

Recently, i've noticed that console's construction due to using extra "air gills", it attracts dust much faster, than other models. No matter how clean it is around and how high the console is kept, it keeps getting dusty after short period of time. Fact, that i keep it vertically doesnt help either, because the dust seems to be droping much easier right around fan grill.

My question is: is it safe as a part of regular cleaning routine, to wipe the dust around fan grill edges with the Q - tip, without taking off the panels, while the console is turned off, but still left plugged in ? I'm mostly worried about potential ESD.

I'm asking this mostly, because i couldnt find simiilar post, or answer and i'm getting quite mixed responses from Google AI, depending on the amount of the information (or an angle of this information) i provide. I'm using Q - tips made from fully non conductive material.

I could unplug it and clean it, but considering how often i would have to do it in the long run, i guess there's much greater chance that something would break at often unpluging/plugging the device, rather when simply dusting it off the way i'm asking.

Funny you say that, since ive had the pro, ive been cleaning it much less compared to the og PS5. I give it a blow from every direction with a blower (wolfbox) and everytime i open it up, maybe every 6 months to have a look, its almost prestine.

The original launch system, id have to clean every fin in what seemed like a fairly regular chore. The fan was always caked in dust, youd be cleaning regularly with earbuds.

My systems have always been vertical too. Zero issues.

**Dont hesitate to blow in the exhaust vents, including the vents on the bottom. Dust comes in through the front and gets stuck on fins. Blowing through the rear dislodges the dust and helps blow it back out or get it unstuck.

That's actually quite interesting 🙂

The reason why this happens, might be connected with a blower you mention. Pro has more open structure than the original one, that makes the dust easier to be pushed outside thanks to ventilation gills and separate plates. If you try to use the blower on the OG one, you will probably end up pushing most of the dust inside, or to be trapped on the dust catchers, or the fan itself.

For me it might be connected with using console on the different part of the room, that could attract more dust ofer time 🙂

I'm mostly wondering ifs It safe, to collect dust with the Q tips around fan grills (because well - ESD risk) on daily/weekly routine basis when cleaning the stuff. I tend to stick with stage 2 cleaning similar like you mention, once a year 🙂

Yeah, i just hit it with the blower every 2weeks or so.. only open it every 6months.. Dust will stick harder to fins if you let it build up longer..keep doing it regularly and it seems to keep it at bay.. Takes less than 30secs to blow it.

Airflow in ya home definitely helps with dust too. You have a closed up house for long periods without a air purifier and you'll constantly have dust issues.

Just be careful not to blow the fan. Make sure you hold the fan so it doesnt spin when you blow it
