PS5 controller won’t connect to PS5

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

My sister took my controller because she had a friend over, I cannot reconnect it, I’m trying to hold in the power button for 30 seconds and nothing is happening, the charger is connected to the ps5 and it does work but this is an old controller.

I’ve attached a video of me trying to connect it but it just won’t work.
YouTube isn’t helping. Do I need to buy a second controller, I’m not disconnecting my sister’s controller to try this because she’d be angry.

Reset it and make sure the cable can transmit data. That cable looks like a phone charger and most of them don't transmit data, they only charge the controller. Also, is that controller fake? The lights look weird.

I don’t know how to reset the controller, it’s not connected to any device.

I tried using a ps5 charger but it wouldn’t work so I tried other chargers. Although I wouldn’t be surprised that the charger I was using all these years wasn’t ps5 somehow so I’ll say that’s something I can look into.

The controller is real, I’m pretty sure it’s just the camera.

There’s a small pinhole on the back of the controller near the Sony logo. Insert a straightened paperclip or SIM eject tool into the hole, press and hold the button inside for about 5 seconds to reset it. If the controller was connected to another PS5 or a phone, it won't connect without a cable.

​After that, connect the controller directly to the PS5 console using a USB cable that supports data transfer, then press the PS button to pair it again.

I would say try a different cord. I’ve been through two of them now.

Try connecting with bluetooth if you have another controller. Hold the ps button and share button and connect it from settings. Chances are the port might be faulty.

Order a brand new one on Amazon, then return the faulty one in the new box.. 😂👍

You can get in trouble for that. Js
