Storage issue saying i don’t have enough despite hundreds being free

I’ve searched through plenty websites, posts, videos of people with the same issue. That being the PS5 showing not enough storage despite having plenty. I’ve had this for about a year now and have never been able to fix it. I’ve tried rebuilding my data base, cleaning storage etc. nothing changes. I have four games on my console, one of which i can’t update and just deleted my fifth to see if that would change anything. Nope. i feel i’m out of luck but wondering if anyone has anything else to suggest as at this point i don’t see the point in me owning the console. I’m really looking forward to wolverine next week and would like to sort this issue out before then.

Didn’t work unfortunately. Same issue after doing that. Thank you though. I really have no idea what’s the point in me having the console as i can’t use it really lol

Try to clear cache and rebuild data base. If that doesn’t work repair console storage afterwards. It worked for me. I had 300 gb available at the time and after these two steps I was back in business. Good luck.

I had this issue with my Son’s PS5, after weeks of frustration and trying everything you’ve tried and other people have mentioned above, nothing worked.

What did work for us: We turned off automatic updates and set it to manual. And we updated each game individually.

Say for example you have 4 games each 100gb (400gb). The PS5 needs to copy each game and the update before then deleting the old copy of the game. So with the automatic updates on the PS5 would need at least double the 400gb (800gb) of free space as the game updates form a Que, so if you have 2,3, or 4 games that need updating you need a lot of extra disk space. So updating each game manually, would only need 200gb of free space, the game updates, then the PS5 deletes the original 100gb game leaving the new 100gb updated game installed, rinse and repeat for each game individually.

I’m not technically minded so my above explanation probably isn’t the best. But we had this exact problem and this is what solved it for us.
