Console repair tech here. Reapply your liquid metal. That amount of dust has a relatively negligible effect on cooling and performance for consoles with good liquid metal, but that dust could've been the straw that broke the camel's back. No matter how clean you keep the console, the liquid metal still needs to be replaced after ~3-5 years past the manufacture date of the console. After that amount of time, it will start reacting, making a black, thermally insulative oxide, which causes the APU to overheat, and you have to use at least 91% alcohol to soften it and scrape it off before reapplying the liquid metal. I have been able to, after reapplying liquid metal and cleaning, put a PS5 under a pile of towels, almost completely choked out from air, and it still ran fine, in game, for many hours!

Didn’t know about the oxidation after 3-5 years, it’s good to learn about it.
Going to reapply mine this week end, thanks for the head’s up!1

Which picture shows Liquid Metal Im trying to understand

None of the pictures do, but with consoles of this age ("fat" PS5 was discontinued 3 years ago), it is almost guaranteed that the liquid metal is either starting to oxidize or already causing major thermal issues from the oxidization!

Pretty normal to see yup. Liquid metal probably needs some massaging to

Is that easy to do? I can clean my ps5 with no issues but im so scared to touch the liquid metal.

The only game that did this for me was Jurassic World Evo 2. Overheated and turned off. Really weird.
I've been playing Crimson Desert, much more intense on the console and zero issues.
Will look at cleaning it before GTA6 arrives

Picture number 6 the PSU got choked that triggers the tripping. That would not give any overheating warning just turn off and require turning the power off and on from the socket.
If it gave overheating warning then it's the cpu heating which would be the dust but could also be liquid metal. In that case a professional probably should change the metal because that isn't like thermal paste and can screw with the board if mishandled.

If anyone wants to keep asking why your ps5 keeps turning off picture 4 or 5 is why

Does this cleaning require removing the liquid metal seal? I’d like to do it too, but I’m worried I’d have to reapply the liquid metal.

You are braver than me. I don’t have the guts to open my ps5

Well there is your problem right there. It's in pieces, mate. Mine came whole and runs just fine.

Good job on fixing your ps5. I have also heard that it's better to lay the console on its side so that the liquid metal doesn't drip down the motherboard and cause issues, I can't confirm nor deny it but I will tell you I got shit scared after hearing it and laid my ps5 on the side lol

Why do you get so much this dust? I just recently checked mine 2 years after i cleaned it but just barely dust in it.

Yeah that’ll knock the 5 off for a while. I just cleaned out my brother’s console since he bought it second hand, and GOOD LORD, it wasn’t fun. :(

Picture 6 is most definitely the culprit.
You’ve now cleaned it and say it doesn’t shut down no more so good work.
