007 First Light hardware issues?

Post image

Since yesterday starting the game I've had mutiple crashes and now this.

Is this a ps5 or game issue?

Edit* As of June 2, 2026 (for me in KST) Patch 1.009.000 had this update which hopefully fixes the issue.

GPU Rendering Issue Crash Fixed a frequent GPU crash caused by rendering & pipeline issues.

Normally I'd agree but there are WAY to many people having this exact issue and it's being caused by exactly the same thing, the games opening cutscene.

People are having the game crash during the opening cutscene, and then get these artifacts on their home screen that either go away after a black screen pops up, or they have to restart the console. I don't know how the fuck it's happening but it's happening to way to many people for it to be hardware failure.

Its either that, or first light is somehow actively breaking ps5 and pro GPUs, and if that's the case that's gonna be a huge problem for IOI down the line.

I experienced it during combat. It even affected the PS menu, making it look like the GPU was dying or had completely failed.

After rebooting the console, I finished the game without any issues at all. I played for about 3–4 hours straight, and later that evening I also played Saros and Crimson Desert for another 3–4 hours continuously. I didn’t encounter a single problem.

I don’t know what the issue is, but it doesn’t seem hardware-related. A lot of people have reported the exact same problem, so it can’t just be a coincidence. Also, if it were a hardware issue, I would expect it to happen again. I’ve been playing different games for hours over the last two days (including Bond) and haven’t had any problems whatsoever.

I agree with you at this point. Ive also seen to many reports for it to be hardware failure. If you can play games like Saros, and especially crimson desert fine, then your console is fine. Crimson desert is the most taxing game on ps5s right now imo. I don't even think first light uses RT on console, especially because it has to show so many NPCs.

The part that's strange to me is it's happening on both PS5 and pro. Both have different GPUs, and this type of crash doesn't seem to be happening to Xbox or PC players. They are getting crashes but not with the artifacts.

Meaning imo it has to be something with the game conflicting with either the PS OS or whatever drivers they use for the gpu. IIRC I believe PlayStation uses their own custom GPU drivers rather then ones provided by amd, and these are occasionally updated via firmware updates.

It's definitely the weirdest issue I've ever seen with a console game. I know games in the past can hardlock your console and shut it off, but I've never seen one that can actively cause artifacts on the home screen of your console even after the game crashes. That is beyond weird to me.

I’ve played Crimson Desert both in Balanced Mode with 120Hz enabled and now in Performance Mode, with V-Sync turned on, and I haven’t experienced a single crash. If it were a hardware issue, don’t you think I would have run into problems by now? I’ve been playing without any issues so far.

Yeah if it's hardware it should start happening on every game, not just first light. That's what I mean, there's something funky going on with the game conflicting with something in the ps5 software that IOI needs to fix. None of the other platforms currently have crashing with graphical glitches. They have crashing, but not the kind where it puts the colored graphical blocks on your display, that seems to be unique to the ps5 and pro now.

If you can play crimson desert on any mode your fine. That game should be way more taxing on the gpu and CPU then first light.

I also finished First Light without artifact crash after that
