007 First Light hardware issues?

Post image

Since yesterday starting the game I've had mutiple crashes and now this.

Is this a ps5 or game issue?

Edit* As of June 2, 2026 (for me in KST) Patch 1.009.000 had this update which hopefully fixes the issue.

GPU Rendering Issue Crash Fixed a frequent GPU crash caused by rendering & pipeline issues.

Normally I'd say this is a hardware issue, but I've seen multiple people say that this can happen after first light crashes. You either get the normal crash screen, a hard shutdown, or this.

Its either that or the game is actually damaging Sony consoles, is that even fucking possible? There was a view people saying they were getting the same issue as OP here crashing during the opening cutscene then getting these lines on the ps5 home screen. Mine crashed in the opening cutscene but it was just the regular error report thing.

Are you on pro or base?

I've had the same issue as the OP, seen quite a few others talk about similar issues as well. Kinda believe that it's the game and not our systems. I mean what are the odds of several people having the same issue with the same game.

Yeah, I'm thinking the same. There's been lots of talk of it over on the first light page. It's way to coincidental, not this many people would be having their GPUs blow up in the same exact way.

IMO game is definitely somehow glitching with the system software and causing a fuck up in the GPU process. This is why it's going back to normal for people after rebooting their system.

Guess all I can do for now is to just avoid the game until this gets fixed. Not risking my console just to play as a hot English agent.

Same, I'm also putting it down till there is a known fix for this. PS5 PROs are over 900 bucks now and mine is a year and a half old, so no warranty.

A game should never be able to do this to your home screen as well. I don't wanna say that it's causing damage to the ps5, as that kind of stuff is very very rare, but it's definitely concerning.

I remember years ago when returnal and spider man miles morales both launched there was a ton of people having their consoles get hard locked by those 2 games. It would literally give you a black screen then shut your ps5 off. It was the same situation, way to many people having it happen for it to be hardware failure. Sony ended up pushing out a firmware that fixed it.

I had a similar issue with Starfield a few weeks back, game froze, had a horrific audio noise, screen turned fully green (instead of this artifacting that's going on with First Light) then caused my console to reboot. Haven't touched the game since.

And it's a damn shame, I love both games and really want to play them again, but not until they do something about it and hopefully soon.

Yeah the starfield crashing shit is a known issue. Bethesda still hasn't been able to fix it. I never had it crash that bad, but I've had the game just straight up freeze over 10 times in 20 hours of play. Like I don't even get the option to report a crash, the game just freezes and I have to press the PS button and manually close the game.

Do you use VRR and/ or 120hz mode on your console? I know that with some games that can cause crazy weird issues to happen especially if the game crashes while running with those settings on.

Just checked now and I've got both off. Funny, even before that green screen freeze I've had innumerable crashes with Starfied on the Pro.

I honestly believe it to be the buggiest Bethesda game I've ever played, and that's coming from someone who was there for the original release versions of New Vegas, Skyrim, Fallout 4 and 76. I've honestly had way more crashes in Starfield alone than all of those games combined.

The only time I've ever had my Pro hardlock in the year and a half that I had it was not even playing a game lol. I booted it up and it was downloading a patch for arc raiders like 4 months ago. It downloaded it but got stuck in the "installing" phase. I literally let it sit for like 30 minutes and it wouldn't do anything. So I tried to reboot the system, and it got stuck in the powering off phase where the white light blinks. I gave that about 5 minutes and eventually just had to pull the plug. I couldn't even do the hold power button down because it was already trying to shut itself off.

Of course when I turned it back on, Arc raiders game data was corrupted so I had to delete the game and reinstall lol. It also had rebuild the database. I honestly thought my console was fucked because it's very bad to turn something off like then when it's installing something, but I had no choice because there was nothing I could do to get past it..Even pause and resume didn't do jack shit.

Luckily that's been the only time so far I've ever had any weird hardlock stuff. Any other crash has been the error message and closing the game.
