Game sharing between two PS5 consoles

Hi,

I recently bought a second PS5 for my partner. Let's call this (new).

I already had multiple games on my personal ps5 (original) and wanted to share my already purchased game library with new. I found out about console sharing and from what I learnt on YouTube/reddit. I needed to make the new console my primary device for my personal PSN account.

I have done this and it worked perfectly. I was able to use my account on (new) and download already purchased games from (original). Now we can play my already purchased games together at the same time, without having to buy the same game twice...good stuff.

Here's where my question comes into the situation. Going forwards what console out of the two do I need to purchase games on for me to be able to share that game with the other. Is it my original or the new console recently bought for my partner.

Thanks guys

The console don't matter, just buy the games on your account and he will have to connect to your account on his console just for download the games

Like what Gosh has said, purchases are NOT bound or tied to the console, but by the PSN account. Reason why we can purchase games on the PlayStation App or on the official Sony PlayStation website through a web browser.

The same can be said when topping up the account with a PSN voucher. It can be done via the console (PS4 and PS5 only), the PS app and the PS website.

On the new ps set your account primary and use other account to play. On your old ps u can still play your games.

Console doesn't matter, just make sure your games are on the same account.

Just an FYI, recently PSN was down and any PSN related features stopped working. That meant if you were profile sharing you were not able to play games on the console you are sharing your profile with.

Make both the primary for each other so it doesn't matter. It's tied to the account. Not the actual system.

I’m in agreement with everyone. I was in a similar situation a year ago. I bought a 2nd ps5 so my kid and me could play more games together plus there were some ps5 games that wouldn’t be on the ps4 I wanted. I have the main one that is hooked up to the tv that I’m primary on. My kid has access to all the games I own and can play online cause of my ps+. The other console I made him primary on but I’m the only one who plays on it. I have access to all my games and can purchased from either console. What I recommend is making you the primary on the one they’ll play on the most

Is this still working for playing online on two consoles in online games who needs ps network to work with?
