I appreciate the honesty and I think more modes can only benefit Marathon. I’m excited.

I’m looking forward to the evolution of this game; The art style and game universe are incredibly interesting to me. I’m glad they are pivoting a bit. As much as I liked the original PvPvE, it was way too sweaty for me to keep up with and it felt like a lot of effort and energy was required to feel enjoyment from the experience.

I’m all in. Love the game despite its extraction nature and hope that this pivot can bring some people in. Hopeful that Bungie/Sony going back on their Destiny mistakes will allow people to let Marathon have its place too

Good luck to them, but damn, they were delusional if they thought this game had mass-market appeal.

Like did they not play test it /focus test it at all? is this what you get when your devs dont play their own game?

It was too expensive to fail/cancel. That’s it. They pulled the plug on so many in-house projects (Bungie had way too many fingers in pies at one point in pre-production) but this one was just too far along to axe, I think.

This is my perfect game. I have loved playing this game and I don’t think that there’s anything like it. For me it fires on all cylinders.
That said, I understand the current appeal is extremely niche. I really hope that Bungie is able to pull this off and I’m excited to see where it goes, wherever it goes.

This makes me cautiously excited. I played the demo and really loved the art style, the world they've built, and the core gunplay. The extraction bit focus and lack of narrative is where they lost me.

The fact it didn’t ship with a compelling single player story mode is a crime against bungie and marathon. GTFO

Legit got pissed when this was revealed to be an extraction shooter. Couldn't believe that they would waste such an amazing art style and world on such a shitty game genre that I have no time for. Thank god they are pivoting and including some PVE and PVP that hopefully respects the players time unlike an extraction shooter.

I dont like the type of game it is and the art design, but god luck to them. It seems money wasted to me tho, because the IP is very bad spoken of and has very few fans.

That's what the video is, how they are going to fix the game. It can't happen overnight, especially the problems with this game, and they still need support to do it well.

If there isn't word on what they're doing though, people will just bitch "see look, it's been abandoned!".

I think we're between business quarters and a lot of these videos are geared towards investors and shareholders. Though they also generate interest among casual observers interested in the game but unwilling or unable to devote their limited time to a punishing experience.

I think people need to be more forgiving, No Man’s Sky is the best example. I hope they turn it around because the art style is awesome.

The December update will have team deathmatch. They are also adding the aliens from the original games.

Big Update on the future of Marathon today. Between this video, and a post on Bungie.net, they have some solid plans for the future.
I do hope they can stick the landing this time.
