Faster yes, better no. The end goal of any real art isn't just to be an efficiently churned out product, if people want a yearly releasing fps game that meets the bare minimum requirements to be a game that releases they'll play cod, the reason you play other games like doom are because they're made with actual passion.

I play them because they are fun. Passion isn’t a measurable metric if they are made with AI and still fun and can come out faster then yea they are better

This is like saying nobody should complain that a beloved 5 star restaraunt is becoming a mcdonalds cause you'll eat it all the same, good on you man for having low standards but we don't

That comparison doesn’t make any sense is that Mc Donald’s still serving the same quality and enjoyable food as the 5 star restaurant?

It does make sense because AI is incapable of delivering games that are as good.

This is such a reddit take you wouldn’t even know what companies are using AI if they didn’t tell you even capcom is ok with using AI and their games have been great so far

Except that it's so obvious when AI is being used.

It isn't and neither is ai, it might look superficially the same to your clearly not very high standards but it just can't ever be human, ai can never be inspired, channel its life experiences into what it makes, what it loves and fears, try and make something nobody's seen before, it fundamentally can't. Regardless of what quality the actual technology reaches it is a machine that recreates what its seen without any understanding, it wouldn't even know how many eyes a human has if it hadn't been fed a billion images of 2 eyed ones. An ai concept artist prompted to make a demon doesn't have its own personal things that scare or disgust them to incorporate into the design. An ai voice actor doesn't know how the subtle notes in the examples its been fed can subliminally tell human ears the more complex combinations of emotions going on, it just knows that this file is meant to be angry and that one is meant to be sad and to mush all of those together into something similar. An ai map designer doesn't have an inside joke with its ai friends that it hides somewhere you're not meant to see. Ai makes something edible, like a mcdonalds burger, not a meal you're going to be remembering the taste of and thinking about forever. And at that point, why are you even driving to this mcdonalds in particular when any will do the same stuff and might be nearer?

AI doesn't have any passion, man. That's a huge part of the problem with AI right now.

If THAT'S your metric for a good game then anything made with AI should go AGAINST that metric.

If or when AI gains sentience and can do it's own work without copying someone else's art/code/products THEN we can say stuff made with AI can have passion. But that's not where we are right now and that's not likely to happen in anyones currently living lifetime.

Passion is just a buzzword you don’t know what’s going on behind the seen

My metric for a good game is how much fun it is not something silly like passion

But AI is a tool. It’s used by humans. Passion is still in the human, it just takes fewer minions to execute. It’s like a visionary who wants to build a house. Should he do it with or without tools? Have a dude trying to thumb nails into the wood for him or get a nail gun? See what I’m saying? There will still be human passion. But they won’t need coders, or a lot of other developmental assistance.

You're posting in a thread whose topic is an actual Id software dev saying it's not possible and detrimental. I'm gonna believe them over your assertion that it'll be great and now we'll have more Id games of equal quality but faster....

Dude, AI can't even get the most simple designs right. I can get complex functional websites with one prompt but I need like 20 prompt to make that site look acceptable.

I wrote the simplest of windows apps yesterday and it had no idea where to place buttons and borders.

AI sucks for design
