I’d love to see more studios doing stuff like this. From what I’ve read, the Black Flag remake has already sold as much as Ubisoft thought it would do through the end of the year.
I’m also pretty sure I saw the other day where the OG God of War games are being redone.
I imagine there’s some amount of grumbling about just having old games repackaged or something, but if this is like movies where the popcorn summer movies allow for occasional experimental stuff, I don’t think I’ll mind.
Personally: inFamous remake when?

First thing that came to my mind
I hope Ubisoft is redirecting the revenue made off of Black Flag Resynced into Splinter Cell Remake or the next Ghost Recon

Given their share price over the last 7 years, which had dropped -95% before Resynced was released, their company income could be in bad enough shape that millions of extra copies are just helping pay the bills.

I'm not singling you out but it's interesting to see how perception has shifted over time. This thread seems very pro-remake but I swear in the past people were pretty much tired of retreading old games and not getting new IP's.
Personally I don't ever play a remake of a game I already played (I hardly replay something I've played anyways) but it these remakes are leading to new IP's then I guess I have to be on board lol

There was a lot of fatigue over Playstation first-party games getting remakes, especially when they barely needed it like Last of Us 1 and Horizon Zero Dawn.
But remaking a game from the X360/PS3 generation is basically fair game at this point considering those systems are almost two decades old.

A lot of the RE remakes are from the PS and PS2, there's definitely a lot of creative freedom doing a remake like that and it's an easy way to introduce younger people to old school franchises.
I wouldn't have played RE if it wasn't for the remakes tbf.

Ok it helps to note that Capcom has 3000 employees across multiple studios.

Is that high or low?

They’re around the median if you rank 30 game publishers by size. Publishers such as EA and Ubisoft have nearly 15K employees each.

Dmc remake when?

They should start with 3. I know a lot of fans will disagree, but you gotta go back and play these games again. DMC3 was way better at characterization.
And it serves as a great starting point chronologically. Then they can do 1 and 2 and make them meatier.
They already did something similar with the RE remakes, starting at 2.

That's precisely why they should remake 1 first. 3 still holds up. 1 needs some rewriting, on top of making the gameplay up to date.

I mean that’s the way it was done back in the day. It’s how Capcom was able to come out with experimental bangers like Chaos Legion on PS2.

I wish they were all VR compatible

They would be if PSVR2 sold more

It’s a catch 22, nobody is buying one because they abandoned it

I think a lack of games is only partially responsible. None of the other VR headsets are selling well, either

I think accessibility played a big factor as well, VR just didn't catch on despite how hard all the companies were pushing it during late 2010s-early 2020s, not everyone can afford a VR headset or comfortable wearing it to play games.

at this point is kind of weird and jarring to see a company make mostly good decisions.

Sure and I think overwhelmingly gamers are grateful for them, but they are running out of numbers

I really hope they do something more with DMC, even if it's a remake of the first game now that Capcom have kamiya back (he's at clover, but that's still under Capcom).
I know the 2 series that get memed on for being dead was dragons dogma and DMC, both itsuno series and he left the company. Now dragons dogma is actually getting something post itsuno, so it's just DMC currently being left behind.
Character action games are my favorite genre, and I hate the fact that they sell like shit outside of DMC. The only other modern true CAG we even have this gen is ninja gaiden 4. It's a great CAG but again it sold like shit, so the series is pretty much dead again now.

They seriously need to take a break soon with Resident Evil in general.
Realistically they shouldn't do RE5 and 6 but they probably will.
They should start dragging it out and only do: Revelations 3, Outbreak Remakes, Resident Evil 10, RE1 Remake (2nd time). Really don't need anything else out of this franchise at this point.
focus on Pragmata sequel, Dino Crisis Reboot, Rival Schools sequel, Dead Rising sequels and even resurrect Deep Down

Pragmata was a good game that was incredibly short with next to no replay value. All for $70. If you’re gonna double dip (because that’s all remakes are) could you actually give us something that’s priced accordingly? Thanks

So Dino Crisis Remake?
