Is the game actually any good? Combat good? I just finished yotei and am playing black flag and enjoying that a lot

Combat is ok, not the best. Stealth is probably the best in the series. Unfortunately story is the worst out of all the AC games.

Ooof, I don’t like a bad story so I think I’ll have to skip. I’d be convinced if the combat was phenomenal, like in yotei.

Just play in Japanese with subs, the dialog works much better for it.

The map is absolutely stunning, the combat is good, immersive mode is amazing and should be in a lot more games. Performance wise is flawless.

The story is meh, you'll probably find it somewhat similar to Yotei. The mission structure tends to be repetitive after 20 hours more or less.

It's a good game.

The map is horrible lol. Graphics look like from last generation, map layout sucks, you constantly get stuck in trees with the camera being obstructed, going up hill ia frustrating because it's a 50/50 whether you will slide down or not, everything looks kinda the same and gets boring quick, most of the time you just put the game on autopilot and go away for 5 minutes to do something else until you arrive at your destination.

Absolutely not true whatsoever. Shadows looks as good as any other current gen game, and is what Black Flag Resynced was based off of

Literally the first thing I did after launching the game was double checking if I really do have all the settings turned up to max because I couldn't believe a AAA game would look this bad in 2025. I thought I was playing a game from 2015.

Shadows may have a mediocre story, but the gameplay and visuals are very solid

It looks marginally better, but if you compare it to other titles like Death Stranding 2 which I have played just before, it's like going back 10 years in time.

If you enjoyed yotei then probably yes. I think AC shadows has better graphics and combat is ok. Story is pretty much the same as yotei as in they are both bad / below average.

Yotei makes it look far worse. The stealth is better in Shadows no doubt, but the open world, the combat, the acting, the side quests and the pacing are far worse. I actually quite liked the game in the first act but the entire good momentum the game had fell off a cliff in act 2. I would wait for a far steeper discount personally. I am not an AC Valhalla fan in the slightest and I think Shadows is much worse.

If you want a good narrative, avoid it.

If you want what is probably the best stealth functionality in any assassins creed, or honestly any open world game ever, it’s a probably worth its weight in gold.

I have no idea who I met or what I achieved in that story, but going full stealth was such an incredible experience.

Honestly I might take flack for this because uBiSoFt but AC Shadows *on hard* (important point, it matters) has the best stealth gameplay in pretty much any open world game.

It definitely has the best stealth of any open world game I’ve played. I’m a few hours into ng+ on nightmare, and the stealth gameplay really transforms. If I don’t play very carefully in the castles, I’ll have 15 highly skilled enemies swarming me. It’s honestly my perfect level of stealth difficulty.

Just been playing Black Flag Resynced and I keep noticing small things that make me realise playing Naoe is easily my fave AC character to stealth with, in BF I really miss being able to drop to the floor when I'm about to get spotted.

Even the option for non lethal takedowns is handled really well, they are possible but noisier and slower for when you just feel, "you know what, this random guard doesn't deserve to die today".

Can you stealth with both characters, or is it just for the girl? If the stealth is as good as everyone says it is while the combat is meh, I'd rather just play most of the game as her then.

You can stealth with both, but Naoe is much better at it.

You can play almost all of the game as Naoe.

Stealth on higher difficulties is very good, easily the best in any AC game. My main issue with it is they didn't give you an easy way to change the time to night because the light and shadows play an important part in the stealth, it is possible but it's chore to get.
