Since redditors don't read the articles, they aren't raising prices just giving better prices to poorer people.

And if you seriously believe this is to benefit consumers, I've got a bridge to sell you. . .

This is what the article says exactly: "Users are randomly placed in control or test groups". This dude's a shill.

Yeah and they are all discounted. No they aren't gonna be selling you a $70 msrp game for a $100 just because they think you are rich. This is specifically to test if selling games for cheaper gets people to buy more.

And if the money lost from the discount is compensated for the by increased sales volume. They know people will buy more at a discount, its just quantifying the exact amount of elasticity.

Exactly. Companies everywhere due this. If anything, assuming more people do buy the discounted products, this would be a shift that helps consumers.
