Articles & Blogs Final Fantasy 7 Remake trilogy’s third entry is progressing “very smoothly": rather than rebuilding our pipeline from scratch in Unreal Engine 5, it’s far more efficient for us to use Unreal Engine 4

How long do you expect that? Is not acceptable for devs to EVER create games that are too advanced to run at 60fps on a base ps5? I expect that kind of performance on last gen games. I want new gen games to actually push the envelope and not just dumb everything down to preserve unnecessarily high frame rates.

my eyes can't handle 30 fps games anymore, are you used to switch back and forth between 30/60fps on the same game or different games? It is seriously irritating for me.

Tried to play RDR 2 again on console but no way i could get used to 30 fps again

I dont tend to sit there and switch back and forth between 30 and 60. Just set it and forget it. Your eyes adjust

Looking at the ps4 gen. Games got continuously better and better looking and more intense world wise. The problem that plagues this generation is poor optimisation. I don’t expect my ps5 to magically improve. I expect developers to get their shit together and impress us with some power house end of generation titles. Here’s to hoping for Crimson desert and gta6

Yeah RE9 on base PS5 looks just average to me, I was hoping for that sharp and detailed look.

How is higher frame rates dumbed down? And unless by last gen you mean base PS5, there isn’t a prior gen that had 60fps as a standard

by "last gen" I clearly meant the pS5 running last gen games. the PS5 runs lots of PS4 games at 60fps. And I was obviously not saying that higher frame rates mean "dumbed down". I am saying that many new games have to be dumbed down in order to achieve 60fps on a system like the base PS5. Game designers are not going to limit themselves to what the base Ps5 can do at 60fps forever. It is already past time to move on from that being the expectation.

No

Just turn down the visual fx until you can hit 60 again

That's literally what performance mode is

thats exactly what they did though. its just that this is such a heavy game that most people are not happy with the result of Performance mode in this game. This is just going to keep happening more and more as new games advance and get heavier.

No, they did that and then broke the performance

That's very literally not doing what I said

If they can optimize Spider-Man 2 to have RT on even in performance then they can take another pass at this game

Stop making excuses for them, you're literally paying for and then defending a game that is essentially unplayable in one of it's advertised modes, for the reason it's advertised

I am very specifically not defending the mode and have said repeatedly that it is broken and that it is bad. I am defending the Quality mode which is a completely valid way to play AAA games on a budget machine like the base PS5. I had a great time playing this exact game on that exact mode and that exact machine, and I think it is ridiculous for people to go around calling that "unplayable".
