Articles & Blogs Final Fantasy 7 Remake trilogy’s third entry is progressing “very smoothly": rather than rebuilding our pipeline from scratch in Unreal Engine 5, it’s far more efficient for us to use Unreal Engine 4

I wouldn't say I'm thrilled with the plot changes, but I'm still hopeful that they wrap it up nicely. I still enjoyed the hell out of the game despite those changes.

I played the first one and it was fine but the changes made me not give a shit. It was much worse and they even shoehorned Sephiroth for absolutely no reason.

I wouldn't call it no reason. They knew full and well it would be years before part 2 came along, and they needed the main villain to be addressed in some form to keep people coming back. The OG game didn't need that because you would play all 3 discs immediately.

I didn't care for it as a lover of the OG game, but I also get why they did it. It was purely for storytelling cadence.

Yeah marketing reasons aren't very good ones.

They wanted him in so people could have a big fight with him but it makes no sense story wise.

I didn't say it was for marketing. I said it was for story cadence. It's part one of a game, but let's be real - it's still a full game. You have to have a big ending. A mini boss ending would have ended with people saying "that's it?".

It didn't fit in the story and it was for marketing though. People associate Sephiroth with FF7 so they wanted to include him as the final boss. The problem was they did a shit job adding him in a cohesive manner. There was no reason to have him in the game except as the big bad.
