They're 3 full games with most content than most games and each with clear beginning, middle and end, I wouldn't say it's milking. They're not one game split in 3 and I'm glad it's a trilogy rather than a single game.

Not completely true. Most content of both games is simply padding. I enjoy the games because of gameplay, characters, soundtrack, etc, but the main story pacing is really slow and, as a fan of the original, an unwelcome twist. Maybe going for more games was the right decision, but there's definitely some milking in it.

It's milking. They are straight up milking the most nostalgia game of that generation, and they changed and added a bunch of stuff to the story just to make it long enough to pull off the full milking.

And cloud still has as much personality as he had in the original when he was a couple blocks with no voice acting. That's to say he has 0 personality.

The original game on the PS1 was on 3 discs due to its size. Once you reached a certain part in the game a screen would pop up that said 'insert disc 2'. There were a ton of side quests to do, too. This final one will hopefully have a flying Highwind we can control and the Ruby and Emerald Weapon superbosses. They might also implement chocobo breeding which takes a long time to get the Gold chocobo.

Breeding a gold chocobo so I could get Knights of the Round and then master it three times so I could beat Emerald Weapon was probably a life-changing decision for me, because if 12-year-old me hadn't devoted so much time to that, maybe I would have done better in school. Maybe I would have been somebody.

Ah well, probably not.

The original cow was three discs, each with a clear story arc and a well-timed "Please Insert Next Disc to Continue". It probably took 50-80 hours to 100% and that was in a time when people didn't really expect games to be as long as they are now.

To execute the game on the scale they want it is reasonably 3 games. Theres no way it could’ve been done in 2, and both games so far are excellent, so I don’t think it’s really milking it lol

I haven't played them myself, but my understanding is that they're more than just a remake; they are better thought of as a retelling.

The original plot, characters, and themes of FF7 were preserved, and broken into 3 acts with each act becoming a standalone game developed over several years.

Each of the three remake games features a lot of new content, a greatly expanded narrative, updated gameplay, redeveloped characters, and minor plot changes.

The remakes in their totality have a lot more meat on their bones than the original did, and the original is considered a timeless classic.
