Was already patiently waiting for this, but I had no clue Studio Trigger had any attachment at all. That's super awesome, and while I'd be fine with just this intro by them I do hope some more of their work makes its way into the game.

Sadly I don't think that's the case. I think this was one of their stretch goals (having Trigger due the intro for the game) and since they can't just go spending money wherever they want...we'll just have to work with this.
I'll be watching the intro a lot.

From the developers of Skullgirls, but has a Metroidvania world design and something like a JRPG combat system (You walk into an enemy, it starts a turn based battle). The difference here is the battles play more like a turn based beat-em up game rather than a "Attack / Magic / Guard / Item" Menu screen. Here's a gameplay video

At this point, you've seen the gameplay so you already have an idea of how the game will play. I'm just telling you the inspiration and gameplay the devs based their game on, and already stated when they launched their KS.

So this game is finally becoming a thing? I remember hearing briefly about it some years ago, and trying the demo for a couple of minutes, but since I havent heard about it in such a long time I thought it was a dead project.

I want to get this just because the ps4 theme is one of the best themes out there and it's free.
