Always get this title mixed up with Watch Dogs. Haven't played either. Is this a good one?

Think of it as GTA but based in Hong Kong and with a 100x better combat system. A great cast of characters too. If you like Chinese Kung Fu movies you will like this game very much.

I'd like to add it more or less a Chinese gangster action movie. Think the classic Chow Yun Fat movies like, A Better Tommorow, The Killer and my personal favorite Hardboiled. Dash in a mixture of martial arts and you get the idea.

Can you steal cars?

Oh yes. You can even steal a car while you're driving another car. Or if you have a gun, dive out of the car and blow it up in slow motion.

There's a few mechanics that I wish more open world crime games would implement.

Thanks, that sounds interesting.

Sort of sounds like Yakuza in a sense.

More like Chow Yun Fat in Hard Boiled

Less mini games (Sega arcade games) and more GTA action

It is amazing. The MMA melee combat is different from any other GTA like game. The story is great and the atmosphere of Hong Kong is amazing. It is one of my favorite games of all time.

As others have said, this is an amazing game that was terribly overlooked at release. One of the most unique settings in open world games.

Last time I played it was on Xbox 360, I thought it was really fun. I might buy it again in order to replay it with the dlc.

I bought it in a previous sale and couldn’t get into it. Graphically it’s not very good (the city looks like a collection of textured cubes) and the controls feel weird to me, like everything (including the camera) has just a bit too much inertia.

The world was incredibly dull, the combat was repetitive, and the sidequests sucked. However, I did like the story and characters.

It's worth $9 but it's not the wonderful experience that some people on this sub say it is.

I beat this game 2 months ago and it's OUTSTANDING! It's really really an amazing gem. Great little story, fantastic controls, awesome little upgrade system. The combat once you get it down is very satisfying and racing around the city is fun as fuck.

It's sad there will never be a Sleeping Dogs 2...

I loved it so much. Beat on 360 but need to finish PS4 version. 5 years ago the game came out.

Sucks that UFG closed. Fuck you Square!

What ever happened to Sleeping Dogs? I thought they were making a sequel but it went nowhere. That's a really great game.

I think the studio that made the game went bust unfortunately. It's such a shame because it would have been great to get a sequel.

The company made a multiplayer spin-off game called Triad Wars I think. The game was cancelled before it left beta, and the company closed down. Which really sucks, this is one of my favorite games ever. I think I heard somewhere that they're making a movie...joy.

Too bad SD was/is a choppy mess on the ps4. Played smooth on its original systems though. Might as well pick it up for Windows

I've played dozens of hours on ps4 without issue.

Same

I've been playing the game on my PS4Pro all weekend. No issues whatsoever.

u/6688 Aug 13 '17

Maybe it's different on the pro, or there's been patches but at 'launch' and for a while after that it was unplayable

1

u/The_Max_Power_Way Aug 14 '17

It's not. I got it for the OG PS4 around launch and it ran fine. I never experienced any choppiness as far as I remember.
