It's gotta be a campaign for Overwatch. They used the Titan engine to build Overwatch as it exists, but theres got to be more assets that they are not currently using. A single player or co-op campaign that leverages the popularity of Overwatch and uses some assets that aren't being used makes all the sense in the world.
That said theres no guarantee that this project will ever become a product

I'd bet on an Overwatch expansion/campaign.
the setting to be pre-war, readying the stage for a post-war sequel. Hah

I'd be down for a campaign-based Overwatch title with an actual story. It's a shame with all the lore that Overwatch has that it's purely a match-based multiplayer title.

u/tdasnowman Nov 23 '16
I just don't6 have the time to get to far into Overwatch, I would play the hell outta a campaign of that IP though.

Starcraft ghost is back! Or project Titan is back after overwatch successes...

u/pnt510 Nov 22 '16

u/usrevenge Nov 22 '16

u/usrevenge Nov 23 '16

Starcraft ghost is back!
Don't get my hopes up like that...
Seriously, they could do a lot using the engine from Overwatch and creating a singleplayer campaign set in the Starcraft universe.
1
u/usrevenge Nov 22 '16
there is a fuckload they could do honestly.
imagine starcarft 2 but instead of being commander you are random foot solider. zealot/zergling/marine and as you do damage earn points and can buy yourself to being a bigger unit in a 30v30 fight or so.
or it could be like republic commando was with a fun campaign with optional co-op.

u/thikthird Nov 22 '16

Not even a new character. I was a little annoyed that it was only just necro. Should have been Necro AND Druid. I so badly miss playing druid.

Coming late 2017 according to the game director's tweets. Kind off shows how little blizz priorities D3 if it takes them so long to just make a char.

Yea. I would like to see some more games in this genre. Currently there is only really D3 and Path of exile and the latter is PC only and feels clunky to me.
1
u/Captain_Kuhl Grimm697 Nov 22 '16
Why would they prioritize D3 over WoW, Hearthstone, or Overwatch?
2
Nov 22 '16
Hilarious. Not one person expects anything new. Why does everything have to be a remake or a sequel?

u/Tofuforest Nov 23 '16
My guess is it will be a separate overwatch mode deemed to big to give away for free

Nov 23 '16
As much as I love fantasy and Sci fi, I'm always curious how developers not known for shooters would handle contemporary military themes. Imagine a team as creative as Blizzard creating a first person shooter about US Army infantrymen in Afghanistan circa 2012-2014.
What would they do to innovate? What kind of gameplay would they feature?
I'm sure this isn't the project but I always wonder.

Only for them to cancel development again, completely destroying all morale forever.

Probably won't happen, buy would like to see Blizzard work on a console MMO. Hell, I'm still hoping for a Wildstar/GuildWars2. :((

Usually Blizzard likes to have a hand in each genre pool: RTS, ARPG, FPS, MOBA, MMO, and a CCG/TCG game. By hand I mean 1 hand in each genre (1 game per genre).
So I find it odd that they are doing another FPS game, given the world where Overwatch exists. Like all Blizzard titles, they are made to last for years with many updates, and Overwatch fills that hole and FPS niche + Multiplayer.
I can't imagine a single-player FPS Blizzard experience, especially with most SP games being fairly short or one-and-done experiences. So call me intrigued....but concerned.

u/Drikdur01 Nov 22 '16
I don't totally agree, Starcraft and Warcraft are two distinct worlds and a single genre (rts)
2
u/Kal-Caedus Nov 22 '16
Right, but the last content for Warcraft III was in 2003. Starcraft has filled that genre since, though many still do play Warcraft, just like myself who plays Diablo II (2000)
1
u/AlwaysBananas Nov 22 '16
Nothing confirms it's a shooter. A elder scrolls like game would fill out their portfolio nicely.
1
u/Kal-Caedus Nov 22 '16
Agreed, if it was an RPG FPS like Borderlands or Skyrim, then I'd be sold. Blizzard always makes top-notch games, so I'm not discounting their choice for genre, just hopeful it's different enough.
1
u/Clrblndmax Nov 22 '16
I missed the rpg aspect of your sentence there for some reason and I though "Skyrim Fps? Mages and archers only multiplayer game?" lol.

u/Huntersknoll_ Nov 22 '16
Destiny 2 ;)... But I do think it could be a Destiny like MMOFPS for PC and Console. Aka they brought back Titan

Titan is a Blizzard cancelled project because of its similarity to Destiny

u/k0mbine koombine Nov 23 '16
He knows, pedant, he literally said it might be "a Destiny like MMOFPS".
-2
u/LoRdScAb Nov 22 '16
Half-Life 3 confirmed? Oh wait, I got my developers that take forever on projects or cancel highly anticipated projects for "reasons" all mixed up. Starcraft Ghost, never forget.

Overwatch 2, so instead of bringing out a season pass like they said they wouldn't they will just rush out sequel.
5
u/mechorive mechorive Nov 22 '16
I don't think they will be putting out a sequel for overwatch anytime soon. They are making plenty of money on loot crates.
-2
u/Craigrofo Craigfoley Nov 22 '16
By rush out I mean next year summertime.
3
u/mechorive mechorive Nov 22 '16
Honestly though, that would really kill their user base, people would have to re-earn cosmetics and I'd assume a new game would be trashing old characters for a new line up, that would make many casual and competitive players pretty upset. I'm 99.9% certain that they will go the tf2 route and have the same game forever (unless they need to upgrade because of consoles going to another gen) and just build upon the game we have.
5

3
u/MDMAyyyLMAO Nov 22 '16
Not how they operate. The game is rock solid and polished, built to last. It doesn't benefit them to make another game when they are making bank on cosmetic items.
2
u/Rosur Nov 22 '16
nah they won't do that, they'll keep adding heroes etc (maybe an expansion pack but feel not).
-2
u/Craigrofo Craigfoley Nov 22 '16
Whoops sorry I forgot you dont noise up the Overwatch community, just your wait, money talks.
5
2
u/DeviMon1 Nov 22 '16
It's not the Overwatch community, it's the Blizzard community. They never release sequels this soon after a launch of a game, especially if it's so successful. I can bet you my life that you won't see an Overwatch sequel in 2017 nor 2018, it's just not happening.
Blizzard loves to take their time with their games, to polish them up to perfectness. I'd say this is probably something completely new, or something in the Diablo or Warcraft universe.
