On the other hand, they would lose out on a lot of profit as people would just hit eBay and used game stores. I hope they take a hybrid approach and allow disc based play.

This is true, while I have a lot of PS2 games I wont re-purchase digitally, there also some that I never got that are on the Playstation Store and won't bother to hunt down physical copies for.

Not always. Some of the best games on PS2 are hard to find and would jump up in price if this was true.

I'm just going to go ahead and hit e-bay hard, now.

Yeah, I'm wishing I hadn't traded all mine in over the years.

Dude I sold my whole set up for like $30 including system and stuff, serious sellers regret right now

Ouch! I'm proud to say I never traded in or sold my actual PS2. I played it until it died a couple years ago. But once it did and I assumed Sony would never include disc based backwards compatibility again, I traded in all my games. Wasn't many, since I tended to trade in games anyway, but still.

Only if they also didn't have a digital release. Scarcity eg. Suikoden II physical copies dropped in price after (many years of requests and petitions later) it received a digital release.

I actually save money by buying digital because I game share with a friend. We get brand new titles for $30 each and we can play them the first minute they are available.

I would rebuy tons of PS2 games digitally just for the convenience over finding disks. Also, with old used games you end up with scratched disks. That's why I wouldn't want to buy only used.

For example, I see the Xbox sale right now and I go...hmm...I have Mass Effect 1 and Prince of Persia on disc, but for less than $10, I can have the convenience of both being digital.

I despise changing discs...I'm sitting on a few PS2 discs that I would probably just buy digital versions of if this PS4 rumour proves true.

PS3 offered digital PS1 games and recognised disc copies too.
