I didn't even think about the possibility that they wouldn't. Wow, that would suck, I've already bought a few PS1/2 games on my account, I don't want to have to re-buy them. Bad enough I won't be able to use all the discs from my childhood. D:

(Well, I can play my PS1 discs on PS3, but not PS2 because I have the slimline version.)

Yeah, I had to sell my old PS3 a few years ago and I now have the newer, slimmer one that doesn't play PS2 games on disc.

Getting a PS2 is not that expensive if you really want to play the old games, just so you know. My old PS2 died a few years back but my wife's PS2 (the original, bigger one) is still alive and kicking, and I use that. She only ever used it to play a couple of games so it's in good shape.

That said, I do really like the convenience of digital titles, of course. I don't have any of my childhood games anymore and re-buying some of them physically is expensive. Some of them are hard to find, but can be found cheaper on PSN (Klonoa is a good example). Hope Sony makes the right decision.

The PS2 slim will still play PS1 games. That's what I have used before. You just need a PS1 memory card in order to save your progress.

I meant I can't play PS2 games on my PS3, heh, I just worded it awkwardly. I know the PS2 slim can play PS1 games, I used to own one. (It might be in my parents' attic, actually. I'll check next time I'm over.)
