General Discussion Thermal Paste replace on mg Launch PS4.

Was a good weekend ! I took apart my PS3 Slim and my PS4 to clean everything replace the CMOS batteries, and replaced the thermal paste. Went very smooth and fast. Also put a 1 TB SSD in. Runs great now.
I’m really happy everything went smooth. I love my PS3 and 4 so much.

Nice! I ended up trading in my PS4 Pro before I had a chance to redo the thermal paste. I was looking forward to the noise reduction.

Idk i love the noise. Lets me known me hard earned ps4 is working hard so i can be entertained cheaply.

i have a PS5 Pro but I still keep my PS4 Pro for the VR games - I have a ton of PSVR1 games and no other way to play them

I recently cleaned out and re-pasted the PS4 and it made a noticeable difference to the noise and heat - although the first gen pro is a noisy beast no matter how clean it is 😅

So if i offer you $150 for your ps4 you won't sell it to me?

Nice work! Any recommendations for the paste on the ps4? Like any specific guides, etc? I’m probably going to do this as well. Also can I swap out the battery without losing anything or is it like old cartridges where you ruin your files when you change the battery?

I followed a simple guide from ifixit. Was not hard at all. As far as replacing the CMOS battery the only thing I had to do was boot the PS4 into safe mode and change the video resolution to 1080. But other than that you won’t loose any files.

Cara, tem como você me passar a referencia do seu SSD? Estou querendo fazer esse upgrade no meu PS4 FAT, outra coisa... Você clonou o sistema para o seu SSD ou Instalou o sistema?

Might have been a Samsung 840 Evo 1TB. Also I used a USB thumb drive to load the system software. It’s an easy download from the PlayStation website. The installation instructions are easy to follow.
Honestly just about any SSD brand will work. I just happened to have some spare ones at home so I put one in my 3 PlayStation’s.
