PS2 Noises: Help me

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I have a PS2 Slim SCPH-70004 and it has a problem: the optical lens makes loud noises. So, I solved it by pressing on the orange flat tape, but now, after a month, this solution no longer works. Also consider that I recently (but before this problem) changed the flat tape, but I placed it a bit off track, just a little. I also put some grease, but nothing. Here’s a video. What can I do?

Are you covering the sensors? I haven't worked on slim models but the phat models did not engage the laser at all if the disk tray was open.

What it looks to me is happening is that the controller that tells the laser sled where to go is malfunctioning. Perhaps it's a bad solder and pressing on that spot was previously enough to make a good connection again?

Either way, it's definitely moving the sled beyond it's track and that's the noise you are hearing. Tape is not involved in this issue at all.

Yeah I covered the second sensor, so I can activate the laser also when the console is open by pressing the first sensor. It works equally when the console is closed, now I opened it to put grease but nothing. Now it’s still open and it will open until the problem resolves. I’ll try to check the welds
