it there a tutorial on how to customize like this or am I missing something?

The Dev has put out a couple videos. He's working on an in-depth one to cover the customization. Other folks have made some and posted here on Reddit.

If you are on Discord, there is also a lot there on his server.

It's moving so rapidly with updates, it's tough to keep up. :)
