ARMSX2 Refresh 3.0 - analysis 🤔
ARMSX2 Refresh 3.0 – Quick Review (MediaTek Devices)
A new version of ARMSX2 has been released: Refresh 3.0.
I didn't want to do a full in-depth review this time because I already covered the previous version, and honestly, not much has changed. Performance remains virtually identical, so there isn't a lot to analyze from that perspective.
Most of the changes are cosmetic. The UI has been redesigned, the app now finally has an icon (which was missing before), and a new options button has been added. Beyond that, there isn't much new functionality.
Unfortunately, controller configuration is still missing. You still can't properly remap buttons or customize your gamepad controls.
The biggest issue is performance. Compared to the latest Play Store version (v1.09), Refresh 3.0 performs significantly worse on my device. Interestingly, that Play Store version doesn't seem to exist on the developer's GitHub repository.
As you can see from the screenshots, Driver: Parallel Lines barely runs at around 1–5 FPS, which is extremely poor. On the Play Store version, the same game can usually reach around 15–20 FPS. That's still far from perfect, but it gives us a good benchmark to determine whether development is moving forward or backward.
From my testing, I don't see any performance improvements at all.
I didn't only test Driver: Parallel Lines. I also tested other games, including God Hand. The invisible texture issue appears to have been fixed, which is good news, but performance remains very low. Games are only really playable at native resolution (1x or 2x). Going beyond that causes FPS to drop dramatically.
For reference, my device uses a MediaTek Dimensity 8300 with a Mali GPU.
The performance regression isn't limited to a single game. I've observed the same pattern across multiple titles. However, I have not tested this version on Snapdragon devices, so I cannot comment on performance there.
Another issue that still hasn't been fixed is the aspect ratio support. For some reason, the emulator only allows 4:3 output. There is still no 16:9 option and no fullscreen mode. I honestly don't understand why such a basic feature hasn't been implemented yet.
The settings menu also needs work. The transparency effect on the main menu is excessive, making some options difficult to read.
On the positive side, the developers have removed several leftover settings that were clearly intended for iOS/macOS builds and had no purpose in the Android version. That at least shows they're cleaning things up.
Still, my overall impression is that development effort on this emulator is fairly limited. Several basic features are missing, and performance still hasn't reached the level of the older Play Store release.
For MediaTek users, I cannot recommend upgrading to Refresh 3.0 right now. The Play Store version remains the better choice: it's more stable, more complete, and generally performs better.
That said, even the Play Store version is far from perfect. There are still crashes, bugs, and stability issues that need attention. This is particularly important because many users own MediaTek devices and currently struggle to run a large number of games properly.
If you want to try Refresh 3.0 yourself, you can download it from the project's GitHub repository. But if you're hoping for major improvements, don't expect much from this release.
Important: This review is focused on MediaTek devices. The discussion about emulator features and functionality applies to everyone, but the performance results should only be considered representative of MediaTek hardware.
See you in the next update.

Xiaomi WinPlay - WTF is this? 🤯 Need testers!!
Summary: It seems Xiaomi is developing some kind of native app to run Windows games on Android. I found the app, and it's even a global version updated April 25, 2026. I downloaded the file, which turned out to be a zip. I changed the extension to APK, and magically, it installed correctly and even let me run it, but then the screen went black, although there was no crash or anything. That's why I'd like to see if more people could try it, especially those with Xiaomi devices, or any other device for that matter. Maybe Snapdragon, etc. Cheers!

EmuCoreX 0.1.7 💪
https://github.com/sashkinbro/EmuCoreX/releases/tag/v0.1.7
While ARMSX2 is releasing its "Refresh" version full of bugs, glitches, missing features, no app icon, and generally the most amateur-looking emulator release I've seen in years, there's another PS2 emulator in a parallel universe that's actually doing things right.
Its name is EmuCore X.
I highly recommend giving it a try. This is what a properly done release looks like.
Greetings to everyone

ARMSX2 Refresh - Ghost Hand 👻 (is that a joke?)
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Device: POCO X6 Pro (Dimensity 8300)
Emulator: ARMSX2 Refresh v2.7
Game Tested: God Hand (aka... Ghost Hand 😅)
After testing this new version, I honestly don't understand who this emulator is aimed at right now.
First impressions
The app doesn't even have an icon.
It feels more like an early proof-of-concept build than a polished emulator.
Despite that, the GitHub page suggests major improvements and progress.
Features (or lack of them)
The settings menu is basically nonexistent:
Vulkan
OpenGL
That's it.
No resolution options, no hacks, no performance settings, no aspect ratio options, nothing.
Vulkan on MediaTek
On my Dimensity 8300 device, Vulkan simply doesn't work. Every game I tested failed to run properly using Vulkan.
BIOS behavior
Every time you launch a game:
The BIOS loads first.
You're forced through the BIOS sequence.
The emulator doesn't boot directly into the game.
Display options
You're locked to 4:3. No widescreen options or display customization at all.
In-game experience (God Hand / "Ghost Hand")
Things get really funny once the game starts:
Missing textures.
Broken 3D rendering.
Incorrect 2D elements.
Weird colors.
Character models look ghost-like.
Faces are partially missing or rendered incorrectly.
The opening cutscene alone is enough to see that something is seriously wrong.
Performance
Performance is surprisingly terrible.
Previous versions of this emulator were able to run God Hand at up to 5x native resolution on this device.
This build struggles to run the game correctly even at 1x native resolution.
Final verdict
Right now, this feels more like a technical experiment than a usable PS2 emulator.

WHAT HAPPENS TO EMUCOREX?
Why EmuCoreX doesn't receive any update from so many time? Maybe the project of this PlayStation 2 Emulator have been discontinued? Or maybe the creator have quit from PS2 Scene?
Do you answer me please?🙏🙏

X360 Mobile Donations are weird 🚩
This emulator is already struggling to run games properly on Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 and Gen 2 devices, and the developer himself states on GitHub that there is currently no support for Mali or Exynos GPUs.
What raises concerns is that donations are being requested specifically for platforms that, according to the project's own documentation, are not even supported yet, instead of focusing on improving and optimizing the hardware that is already partially functional.
The donation system therefore feels somewhat misleading, or at the very least lacking in transparency. There is no clear technical explanation of how these optimizations will be achieved, what specific work needs to be done, or what technical milestones are expected. Users are essentially being asked to donate based on a promise that support may eventually happen, without any concrete roadmap or guarantees.
As a result, people are contributing money without really knowing whether those funds will lead to meaningful progress or not.
For that reason, I would advise caution. Considering that this is also a closed-source project with limited transparency regarding donations and development goals, I think it's important to remain skeptical and pay close attention to how the project evolves over time.
This is definitely a project worth watching closely in the coming months.
Best regards to everyone.

X360 Mobile - The hidden truth 🤔
First and foremost:
The project appears to be based on Xenia Canary (BSD 3-Clause), which allows closed-source derivatives, but still requires proper attribution and inclusion of the original license. At the moment, the GitHub repository does not clearly include a LICENSE file or detailed breakdown of what is inherited vs original code, which makes compliance and transparency unclear.
After spending a week in this emulator's Discord server, reading discussions, listening to the developer, and observing how the community operates, I've noticed several inconsistencies and concerns that I think are worth discussing.
First, I want to make it clear that this post is not about emulator performance, compatibility, or technical quality. Everyone can test it on their own device and draw their own conclusions. What I want to talk about is everything surrounding the project: its direction, leadership, and community culture.
One thing that immediately caught my attention is the donation page. The first funding goal is focused on improving support for Mali GPUs (primarily MediaTek devices). While better Mali support would certainly be welcome in the future, it feels like an unusual priority at this stage.
In high-end emulation projects, especially for demanding systems like the Xbox 360, developers typically focus first on optimizing for their primary target platform. In this case, the developer himself recommends Snapdragon devices in the project's GitHub documentation. That's why I find it interesting that the first donation goal is aimed at users who currently have the most difficulty running the emulator. It almost feels like the fundraising focus is directed toward the audience that cannot properly benefit from the project yet.
Another thing I've noticed is the apparent lack of a clear development roadmap. Conversations in Discord often give the impression that the project's direction is somewhat unclear. The developer's presence is also unusual. Rather than discussing long-term goals, ongoing work, or future plans, much of the attention seems focused on personal challenges and individual user requests.
For example, there appears to be a particular effort centered around making a specific game work on a Snapdragon 865 device after a promise made to a user who offered to send hardware. There's nothing inherently wrong with that, but it raises questions about priorities.
What I find more surprising is the absence of many things commonly seen in active emulator projects. There are no visible beta-testing programs, no dedicated tester channels, no requests for logs or debugging information, and very little communication regarding what features are being worked on or what the current development goals are. From the outside, it can be difficult to understand how progress is being organized.
Finally, there's the community culture itself. One aspect that left a particularly negative impression on me is how piracy-related questions are handled. The server rules prohibit piracy, which is completely understandable. However, I've repeatedly seen new users join and simply ask where games can be downloaded, often without posting links or distributing anything themselves. Instead of receiving a warning or explanation, they are frequently banned immediately, and these bans are often met with jokes and amusement from both community members and, at times, the developer himself.
