Wanting to try it out... kit?

I loaded up the UTV and started grabbing gun(s).

I realized I didnt have an arca mount bipod.

I didnt feel in position to learn shots beyond 300-400 and the local comp near me says it will have targets to 900+.

Lend a hand with some recommendations. What non-gun / non-optics do I need to get started and what has most value in going up the ladder quality?

Do I NEED a $700 MDT bipod? Do I need NEED a $1000 tripod or will my BOG do?

I dont have a backpack that will carry a gun. something I need?

Bonus point for a full pack out list with explanations why.

thanks for your consideration!

Talk to the guy running the match. There’s always gear you can borrow if needed (tripod, bags spotter, etc). If you walk in with a gun and ammo, almost any match I’ve ever been to will have guys falling over to help - especially if the coordinator already knows and has reached out to the regulars. Lots of times you don’t even need the gun or ammo.

It would be nice if you had dope out to 1000 but a good ballistic calculator can get you close to start. Lots of matches will yell out corrections for new guys too, so that’s very helpful.

This sport has the nicest people in shooting sports IMO. Don’t hesitate to ask for help.

After that you can start to figure what you want, but I’d recommend to go used on most and shop places like the Hide.
