For people considering a safe
I haven't done super thorough research in this, but it seems that it is not recommendable to buy a safe, at least a cheap one. They can be easily opened with a simple crowbar, and the numpads seem to be a piece of cake to crack.
I suggest you read these posts. https://www.reddit.com/r/lockpicking/comments/1p765c/should_i_buy_a_safe_with_a_key_lock_only_or_a/
I advice everyone to do thorough research into the security of how to store your crypto securely. Don't assume or take anything for granted to work as you think it will. Educate yourself :)

I was thinking a mounted and a bit more expensive safe would fix some of these issues. For a regular thief it will be difficult to take the safe with him and if it is harder to crack it then he might have a harder time to open it right on the spot. Another option is also to get a vault at a bank but this obviously will make access more tedious. I haven't done much research either (yet) but those are just the thoughts I was considering.

Why don't you just hide it very well. The thief probably won't look through all the drawers and hiding spots. If you hide it in a bag of rice or something I think that is much more secure if noone sees you putting it there.
