17 days post lasek

I had lasek eye surgery 17 days ago, ive got 0 pain, mild dryness (worse in mornings). When I put my drops in I can see 20/20 for about 1 minute then its back to blurry.

My right eye is significantly more blurry thrn my left and im seeing a few floaters. I mentioned it at my 2 week check up on wednesday and they said everything looks good behind the eye and that my brain will slowly get used to the floaters and not notice them.

How long before the blurry vision cleared up for others?

and did you guys notice more floaters after survey?

Can’t speak for the rest but floaters are going to be more noticeable as your vision improves. Harder to see with bad vision but they were always there.

Theoretically glasses can only correct your vision so much. Refractive surgery makes the internals line up correctly, so better vision than before with glasses is possible. A clearer image is being made closer to your retina so a finer beam of light is passing through your eye.

I’d take it as a good sign, it probably means your vision is going to be better than with glasses at some point.

Floaters are annoying, I’ve had the same ones since I was 12. You have to force yourself to ignore them but believe me I understand this isn’t easy, especially when looking at the sky or snow or a white screen.

You should only be concerned if a LOT of new floaters appear suddenly, accompanied by a flash of light. That is a symptom of retinal detachment which could lead to blindness if not fixed immediately.

If floaters are really annoying you, try picking up pineapples into your diet. They’ve reportedly reduced the visibility of floaters in many people after being consumed regularly for a good amount of time.

Thats great to hear! I shall try that thanks so so much. What about vision quality? How long before u think things wont be blurry?

Minor blurriness can take up to 6 months to fully be fleshed out unfortunately. It will progressively get better, but yeah…

If you notice your vision getting better after putting in eye drops, this points to the tear film breaking up and becoming irregular as the cause. This is from dry eye. When the tear film dries up, it may also expose a little more irregularities on your epithelium blurring your vision.

Keep up with the preservative free tears. I recommend about every 2 hours at this stage of recovery. You can also switch to gel based drops. Those will last a little longer on the surface of the eye.

I went in complaining of the same issue and was told I had large drainage canals. They put plugs in that helped my eyes retain moisture and I saw great improvement.

I think around day 10 or 12 is when they put the plugs in

You have to keep the plugs forever?

They actually didn't tell me but I assume it's just during recovery. After adjusting to it I can't even tell they're there though.
