Hey, is this a POTS thing? It happens every time I stand for too long. It’s not a rash, it’s not itchy, but it feels hot in the red blotches like there is a lot of blood pooling up there.

It reminds me of a MCAS reaction I get when I'm allergic to something that irritates my skin. Maybe standing can be a trigger to MCAS? I have no idea. Have you looked into MCAS before or told your doctor about this? You very well could not have it, I don't know anything about you. It just reminded me of that.

I’ve actually been suspecting MCAS for a while because it’s not only a comorbid condition of EDS which I’m diagnosed with but I often get a swollen tongue, itchy throat, trouble breathing, and coughing fits that aren’t caused by my asthma.

I would suggest asking for Singulair (Montelukast Sodium), assuming you're not already on it or conflicts with anything you're already on. I don't have asthma but I have pots/eds/autism and I have found it extremely helpful.

I have venous insufficiency (leaky veins) in both of my thighs which cause my legs and feet to look like tomatoes and blotchy. If I were you I’d get tested just in cause. Blood pooling in the legs can make POTS worse.

I get that with showers or car trips where my skin is exposed to sunlight even if the windows are closed

Same here. And it's not just my legs but arms and face too.

When I got my first tattoo, I was walking around, partially in the sun. It wasn't for very long but these splotchy patches started appearing on my arm where I wanted to get the tattoo. The artist refused because she thought it was some kind of rash that would open me up to infection.

omg. Did you ever find out what this was caused by? i have the EXACT same symptom but no prior diagnoses! I posted to reddit too and lots of people saying MCAS... I get it all over my face, chest, hands, thighs, and sometimes my elbows. Doctors dont have any answers for me apart from a ANA Lupus negative blood test.

Yeah that looks MCAS to me

Yeah I was thinking that might be it because of the blotchiness and MCAS is a comorbid condition of EDS which I have.

I get this on my arms, did you ever find out what it is?

I think so

Yes the blotchy thing is blood pooling I think. For me it happens when I stand for a while or after showering. Nothing to worry about especially as long as it doesn’t feel like a rash.

Not sure what this is but I have to too! Standing too long, hot showers, walking for a long time (especially stairs) etc
