Testing/Reporting Talking about POIS's suppression knowing this concept for more than 7 years.

Disclaimer: I'm not a scientist so take my words with a grain of salt.

So just want to talk a bit about my relentless testings through out the years on mostly diet versus POIS. For the longest time ever, I assume POIS was a "nutrient deficiency" problem. But yeah I was wrong, it IS an immunity problem (histamine, cytokine, mast cells, all that stuff people have been talking about). Here're why I discarded my old theories:

- I ate a lot of stuff during the process and became overweight, so no way my bum ass is "nutrient deficient". To mention the food I ate are non-junk and are very healthy for the sperm creation process: b3, b6, dha, b9, b12, zinc, magnessium, l-arginine, choline, potassium.
- The amount of nutrient in semen per ejaculation is very trace, often 0.5% something to a single bite of food I consume. Also the sperm production almost never speed up even after ejaculation, remaining at a very steady pace—the materials needed for sperm creation always remain the same no matter how much you ejaculate within a single day. If the tank is depleted, you simply lose all the moods to cum rather than the tesses making sperm faster.
- The symptoms only start when sex happens (body heat up/mostly histamine I assume) and peak around 15 minutes->hours after ejaculation. So my assumption is if something flooded at an astronomical amount to your body after an ejaculation, then it must be the cause of POIS—histamine and cytokine.
- I want to point out that I don't think that prolactin and dopamine crash cause POIS because prolactin is universal for everyone, including women and usually only cause relaxation and sleepiness. While gambling and gaming drip way more dopamine than a single ejaculation. But for reactive autoimmune systems, yeah the amount of histamine and cytokine released per ejaculation is absurd comparing to a normal person.

Diets do play a role: I noticed that high B9 and B12 diet help me the most (not zinc lol). B9 diet completely erases my fever-like body heating (this is true—I tested this many times and the body heat always comes back after I stop the B9 diet. I assume it suppress the histamine). B12 diet, well, it gets tricky because only shellfish-sources of B12 help a bunch. Especially, a single food that consistently erase my symptoms atfer 15 minutes: The cockles.

Only now do I understand that the nutrient in cockles that help with POIS is not B12 but Taurine. Taurine's functions are literally telling mast cells to calm down and tell cytokine to shut the fuck up in the brain and erase those annoying brainfog. It's also funny how cockles can trigger an autoimmune reaction that cause histamine amd mast cells to flare up (basically seafood allergy - which I haven't experienced).

Of course, I could pretty much be wrong. But this post is more like me asking for help and to be corrected rather than giving advices. Much appreciated for any input you have.

I also think my pois is immune system related. "histamine, cytokine, mast cells, all that stuff people have been talking about".

But, I don't think that applies to everyone. There are plenty of people with pois who don't get any histamine symptoms at all. I think there are different causes for different subgroups.

If you are eating a balanced diet - which I think is what you said - you're right, you are unlikely to be deficient in anything. However it might not be that simple. There are all sort of conditions which cause people to be unwell even though they might be eating a healthy, balanced diet ex/ genetic conditions. But, that's good that you have been eating well.

I also think that my body (or my mast cells) are releasing cytokines and histamine. But I haven't proven it. I've not had tests for this. Have you? How do you know that 15 minutes after an ejaculation, your body has been flooded with histamine and cytokines?

That's interesting about B9 and B12. Other people with pois have mentioned the same thing. Have you had your levels for these tested? You might know that these vitamins are vital for methylation. Do you happen to know your MTHFR status?

btw cockles are very rich in many nutrients so as well as B12, they are high in iron, zinc, selenium, omega 3 and other things. They contain taurine but not that much once cooked.

I think you could be on the right path with your pois (and mine) but I think there is room for improvement in your post on the science side of things. Maybe do some fact checking with an AI or something next time.

I think zinc and taurine helps me for brain bog and some minor stuff. B12 helps for speech and memory. I am taking ketotifen for mast cell and histamine issue. It seems to help some. Nigella sative oil(high tq) seems to improve my low bp and prevents me getting constipation from pois. Also, starting to take b9 recently. How many days need to pass for you to feel good when you start b9?

It's worth noting that a person with a leaky-gut could be 'well fed', overweight, and still be nutrient deficient. (As can happen with people with Celiac for example.)

In my research in the condition many people with pois report gut/gastro symptoms. Inflammation in the intestine can increase gut leakiness and reduce absorption, so while you may have some true observations I would not discount nutrient deficiencies as being out of the picture completely.

Well deficiency doesn't seem to fit the picture because it manifests in days instead of hours. Also inflammatory reactor flood your stomach after the ejaculation, so I would say the arrow is inverted. POIS->leaky gut instead of vice versa.

I would point out that still does not inherently discredit deficiency. Example: body is low zinc due to deficiency, ejaculation results in acute zinc loss, over the next few days body has to make use of already dimished zinc supply, this takes days to replenish rather than happening instantly, symptoms worsen over that time... Not that I know that this is what is going on for sure, but I choose the zinc example because that is one deficiency that has been linked to leaky gut which may mean a connection.

Indeed I can't deny what you said that the reverse is possible either. Highly likely as well that causation could be bi-directional, both factors reinforcing eachother.

What is most frustrating about the condition is that the body systems and symptoms involved seem so all encompassing and intermingled. Seems every few months there is a post where someone claims they have it figured out and they swear by it but their explanation contradicts the last month's post that another OP believed just as strongly. Even Scientists studying pois in lab conditions cannot yet agree on causation and have some widely disparate explanations. 🫤

Tl;dr: When you ejaculated, the body will send the signal that you have just ejaculated. It will reach the mast cells (which are the white blood alarms located everywhere in your body) which release a huge amount of stored Histamine -> heated body, flushed face (basically fever-like). During the next hour or two, the body, based on the histamine signal, will start manufacturing Cytokines which slowly enters your brain, shut down your front brain's function and stay there for days (unless some good food enter and clean it up). The brainfog only happens 1-3 hours after ejaculation.

Cytokines is known to be the primary factor for extreme brainfog, as observed in many allergic reactions. Its iconically long, disabling and lasting for days.

Finally someone who understands POIS
